Small and cozy
The proximity to Mt. Rainier National Park is great. The home is clean and attractive. Our only complaint is my husband and I had a difficult time sleeping in a full size bed. ( I didn’t read reviews carefully when selecting ). That would have been a deal breaker for us. Also, the only place to put a suitcase was in the living room because no room in bedroom. On the plus side, the owner sent us lots of good information before check in to make finding the home easy. Information included recommendations for grocery store and restaurants as well. We also appreciated the T V and Netflix. Overall, if you don’t mind sleeping in a full bed, the place is small but nice.
Very nice cabin near Mt Rainier
Very clean, comfortable, relaxing. Everything in good condition and thought out. Enjoyed closeness to Mt Rainier. Enjoyed having full kitchen due to dietary restrictions. Owner had very good tips for the stay.
One morning had a doe eating by door. Then after lunch had three does in yard just looking at us as we went to get into car.
Tips for other travelers:
- bed is smaller than a queen bed. Tight for twi people.
- cabin has no A/C. Has a couple of fans that do well cooling place down. But that is not a good option for allergy sufferers.
- had Verizon coverage at cabin, but 1 to 2 bars. Discovered that using WIFI calling is a good option.
- very little cell coverage in the park. So if using Google maps, suggest downloading maps for offline use in the Google map app.
Very Nice Little Base Camp
My husband and I came up for two days, did some exploring along Skate Creek Road, over White Pass to Rimrock, and went into the National Park. Great central location for all that we did. The home is very clean, just be prepared for small and cozy.
The kitchen had most everything we would usually use. We cooked breakfast and dinner while there. We always make sure to bring kitchen utensils, knives, and pans just to be on the safe side, so we didn’t have any issues there. The appliances were clean and easy to use, along with a full size refrigerator and two-person dining table.
There were some games, hiking information available, and a TV with Roku with lots of options for things to watch. WiFi did seem a little slow to load the internet or apps on our phones sometimes, which didn’t matter much as we only used them to look up local restaurants, but worked great for texting to keep in touch with family.
Due to the smallness of the home, my husband, who is 6’2”, had some issues with the shower and the bed. The shower was a little narrow for him, and the full size bed was too short and narrow. We’re used to a king size bed so it was a little small for us, but comfortable and clean otherwise. Definitely not deal breakers for us, but something that others might have an issue with.
Overall we had a great stay. It was very clean, and the owner was very easy to contact. We had no issues with getting in or during our stay.
Perfect for two!
Loved the location of the property, perfect for two. We were out and about enjoying the National Park most of the day but this was the perfect home away from home to come back to each day. We didn't do a lot of cooking but found the kitchen to have what we needed. The place was clean and inviting from the moment we first stepped in. Thank you for sharing with us!
Exactly As Advertised
The Ashkicker is the perfect retreat for anyone looking to spend time at Mt Rainier National Park. My wife and I spent 2 days of our honeymoon there. The house had more than enough things we needed ie full kitchen, games, hiking recommendations, and etc. The drive to the entrance was very short and approximately only 3-4 miles away. If you stay at the Ashkicker, you’ll be a very short distance away from the wonderful Copper Creek Inn (our best meal on the honeymoon). Enjoy!
Cozy, clean, comfortable at the edge of Mt. Rainier NP
Paradise Estates was the perfect cozy, comfortable cottage for our hiking trip in Mt. Rainier. The little cottage is clean and updated. It's perfect for two people who need a landing spot in the evening for daytime adventures. We enjoyed eating our dinners on the small front porch. The house is away from the main roads but close enough to the National Park for daily trips in for hiking. It's small, as described in the listing, but fairly well-equipped. We'd definitely stay here again!
