Comfortable, spacious cottage in a central position.
Property was ideal for 4 adults and 2 children and had everything necessary for a comfortable holiday. The weather was perfect and we visited all 3 of the beaches nearby (as in Jeremy's information) and followed Jeremy's notes for the walk to Cremyll and back - though I don't know how Jeremy does it in only 45 minutes, and you certainly need a pint in the pub before walking back!
The only criticism of the online information was no mention about the lack of parking (though the car park off West street was free from 4pm to 9am next day) and a warning that no tall people should consider using the master bedroom - I bumped my head countless times at the top of the stairs and in the ensuite bathroom - though I do admit to being a bit clumsy by nature! The steps up the garden might be a bit steep for some too - but that's Cornwall !
It would also be useful if the cottage had a 'hard-copy' folder of useful information to supplement the limited notes Jeremy has put on line.
So glad to hear that you had a happy stay!
It's good to know that you found plenty of parking - as with most of the village and indeed the whole of the Rame Peninsula, it's rare to have parking right outside the house. Small lanes and quiet villages are what Cornwall's all about! The listing does make this clear!
Sorry you bumped your head - I'm over 6'5" tall and I do watch my head but the ceiling height in the bedroom is well over 10 feet at the pitch, so there's really no need to worry.
with best wishes
Comfortable and relaxing place to stay
Just recently returned, 5 of us went, 4 adults and 1 child. Without a doubt what helped to make the trip more memorable was that after some hectic days being able to return to a relaxing first class property.
Great sized master bedroom with en suite bathroom, good double and a twin bedded rooms, separate room with shower and toilet. Of special note must be the beds, everyone commented on how comfortable they were. The cottage had everything you could want, well equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi throughout and a bonus for our granddaughter was the fact that the lounge TV had Freeview and it was logged into Netflix, so when the oldies where 'recuperating', getting dinner sorted or having a lie in she could happily watch her favourite programmes.
You are within easy striking distance of Cawsands, Kingsands and Looe and only an hour from the Eden Project (a must see). So if with children and they are into crabbing (Looe) or rock pooling (Cawsands & Kingsands) this is the place to stay, and if no children they are still a must see.
Retail therapy, cinema, tenpin bowling or a leisurely stroll around the Barbican and Hoe, no problem Plymouth is only a short distance away. To save a lot of driving and the aggravation of finding parking, simply drive to Cremyll (10 minutes away) and leave the car and hop on the ferry (Adult £1.50 & child .75p each way) and then a short bus ride (No 34) into the centre.
Millbrook is a typical Cornish village with steep hills and narrow roads. The cottage is on a single track road so parking can be problematic, but that was a small price to pay to be in such an ideal location. Worse case scenario, there is a nearby pay and display car park, free after 1700 and until 0900. We never used it but it is there if needed.
Within the village there are two supermarkets which stay open till late, a good local pub and a good chippy, all this within a 2 minute walk. Simply go down the hill and turn right, or take the shortcut and walk there and back via the 37 steps (granddaughter counted them!).
Had a couple of queries when we arrived but Jeremy responded quickly and after that we were soon in holiday mode. All in all a great week made all the better by staying in a first class cottage.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property.
Many thanks Jeremy
