Our stay in CWMLLAN cottage
The cottage had enormous charm and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
It is a very old property, so the decor is what you would expect in an old cottage.
It was isolated from modern day living so it provided a great break from pressures of the modern world.
The owner has a local person to come in and prepare the cottage but no one called (except to leave welsh cakes before we arrived.) Fortunately we did not have any problems,
It would have been good to know who to contact if there had been any problems.
Wonderful rural cottage, which my whole family enjoyed.
We had a wonderful time in the cottage, my 3 year old loved the “hobbit” like door to her room. Waking up each day to the beautiful views and the sheep in the fields was a special treat.
Heather couldn’t do enough to help us, and we would recommend the place to anyone wanting to escape the rat race for a while.
Good for Gwaun Valley
Cottage very well situated for exploring Cwm Gwaun Valley, Preseli Hills and coastal areas around Fishguard with excellent walks directly from the cottage. Equipped with everything we needed and welsh cakes and milk on arrival a bonus.
Tranquil and relaxing
The cottage is situated in a beautiful little valley. It's very quiet and peaceful - very little passing traffic. Perfect for getting away from it all. The bed in the ground floor bedroom is an utter delight -so comfortable and cosy!
An interesting cottage! Warm and comfortable, and with a helpful owner. I would rate it higher but for the following points: 1 Details should make clear that the upstairs area is hardly suitable for the elderly: a difficult ladder/staircase and a 4ft-high doorway were too much for my wife (74) and sister-in-law (79) - so they shared the double bed downstairs while I (77) braved the climb several times a day! 2. Details should make clear there is no TV (only a DVD-player) and that various aerials in two downstairs rooms are now redundant. Otherwise the only "improvement" I would have appreciated was a better shower: I find mixer taps on the bath fitting are notoriously difficult to use to get the right temperature.
Thanks for the very helpful feedback. I appreciate the well made-point and have now stated that some agility is needed upstairs. The DVD-only restriction is stated. In your email to me you also gave a very nice comment: “The cottage is comfortable, warm and well-equipped, and I would certainly recommend it”. That’s very encouraging too.
The expected basic comfort in a great area
The description is accurate, and the area is great for nature and scenery. We loved that so much. The cottage is quite small, so we were glad to get out, as with two grown up children, the living space wasn’t all that massive to share... Shame tv wasn’t available for those damp evenings (specially as we were over from abroad and would have enjoyed watching British programmes). The communication with Philip was very efficient and easy, so any questions were rapidly answered.
Thank you for your review and positive comments on your experience. Sorry you missed TV but signal is difficult so actually we have only ever put 'video for DVD' in the description - but this year we have also installed WiFi.
