Lovely property, lovely views, lots to explore
An enjoyable, restful visit for us. Lovely property, lovely views; great location within the "forgotten coast" of Florida. A unique rental with piney woods right up to the Gulf; enjoy peaceful walks on the beach and you may feel that you're the only one around or you may have a chance to chat with another beachcomber; enjoy coffee on the deck as the sun rises, view the birdlife and tidal changes, much more. Juuuuust remote enough to feel you've "gotten away" yet close enough for shopping needs and local Big Bend exploring (or more distant Panhandle treks)... bathe in the serenity of the property and consider treks east and west... so many places to visit, explore, hike, car-treks... beach areas, quaint towns, historic sites, state parks and national forest areas, nearby and beautiful islands--visit the eastern end/the Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park and all of St George Island itself; visit very nearby Camp Gordon Johnston World War II Museum and the Crooked River Lighthouse; head a few miles east to the fishing town of Carrabelle (we enjoyed great service, a yummy lunch with ice cream dessert at Carrabelle Junction and an along the water walkabout), trek east to many spots including Bald Point State Park, and the whole of Alligator Point; west to St. Vincent Island, Apalachicola, and points west. In the evenings, while dinner awaits, enjoy sitting around the fire pit with views of the beach, the home, and the pine tops reaching to the clouds. Various bird watching directly from the home's upper deck (we saw so many species there... a few include eastern blue birds, pine warblers, pileated and downy woodpeckers, red-winged black birds, northern cardinals, northern mocking birds, and varied other small birds to great blue heron, brown pelican, various gulls and other foraging water birds) -- views we enjoyed from the deck, the yard and the beach. Lots to explore, or simply enjoy some serenity on the property. Staircase to the living quarters and south-facing deck, covered car port, comfortable interior ammenities. You won't forget your visit to Carrabelle and the "forgotten coast"... thank you Nikola for your "Coastal Retreat"!
Nature lover's paradise
We had a great few days at Coastal Retreat. Caught some very large red drum off the beach (and flounder and spotted trout). Best bait was at Fisherman's Choice by Apalachicola. Sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. The nature is awesome. You can walk to Tate's hell forest from the property. We will be back.
We came at the best time of the year! Great stay! Nice people. Good shopping and food. We loved our time here in Carrabelle. Our home was very comfortable and well equipped.
We had a wonderful time at Coastal Retreat!
The house was very nice and clean. Mrs. Alford was extremely helpful. Quick to respond and willing to take time to arrange an early check in for us as well as offering information on good fishing areas and restaurants. The fishing was good also. We were fortunate to stay here on a full moon. It was gorgeous! Thank you again for sharing such a beautiful place!
