Starting with excellent communication and preparations this was a wonderful getaway. Lake Superior is unsurpassed in beauty and awe & the local flavor and residents were wonderful and a wealth of information. The cottage is quaint and cute with windows that provide views of Superior and its beauty at every turn.
We visited Oiumet Canyon, Kakabeka Falls, Thunder Bay and the many hiking trails throughout the peninsula. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife from birds to fox to deer and more. It is rustic living and just enough to make it feel like your stepping back into time (as the entire Silver Islet does) but with enough everyday conveniences to be comfortable.
We would certainly visit again. Many thanks to Nancy and Cam.
Thanks Mike, Kathy and your four footed well behaved friend Arnie for being MODEL guests. We are pleased to hear that you were able to get out and see all the beauty that our area has to offer making use of our place as a base of operations. We are delighted that you appreciated the awesomeness of being surrounded by nature, Lake Superior and the history of Silver Islet. You are welcome to visit with us again, anytime.
Glamping in luxury
If you want to get of the grid and away from depressing news feeds this is the place to go. With no cell or electricity (the is a generator) your minutes away for lovely trails in Sleeping Giant park. The cabin has everything you need for a really comfortable stay (including on demand hot water) the kitchen is really well appointed. Plus the history of Silver Islet is fascinating. We stayed here a week and really really enjoyed it. Glamping in luxury!
Thanks for your lovely appreciative review. We also value the ability to disconnect from the frenzy and refresh by connecting with and being surrounded by nature and the mighty Lake Superior. Thanks for staying with us. We welcome you to visit with us again any time.
Presidents Point Paradise
We had the opportunity to rent for the second time this summer and have already booked for next summer. The cottage is wonderful. Very large with three large bedrooms and best mattresses I have ever slept on! Enjoy the many hiking trails around the area or relax on the beach after a nice sauna with the beautiful scenery as your background! We can’t wait to get back!
Thanks Leslie (and family) for staying with us again. One of the joys of sharing our family’s Silver Islet retreat is knowing that you feel at home and appreciate the “camp” as much as we do. And that you look forward to returning as soon as you leave... a sentiment that we feel too.
Until next summer!
My family and I spent a week vacationing at the cottage. The accommodations were amazing. We had three comfortable bedrooms with the master overlooking an amazing view of the lake. The large living room was beautiful, where we watched the sunset in the evenings. We thoroughly enjoyed the sauna and swimming in the lake! Yes! Lake Superior was warm. There are many hiking trails in the area to enjoy! Or just relax on the beachside a good book! I'm already booked for next summer!
Thanks Leslie for your excellent review! You and your family were a delight to host and we are pleased that you have reserved for next year. I am glad that you enjoyed the sauna and of course the ever changing spectacular views of Lake Superior and the Silver Islet community.
We look forward to "seeing" you and the family again next year!
This place is a little slice of heaven on earth!
When we got back from our stay at Silver Islet, my 8 year old said, "That was the best vacation ever!" My 12 year old has told me he misses the cabin too . We couldn't have asked for a better location - right on Lake Superior, peaceful and lots of space to explore. The master bedroom faces Lake Superior and it was so relaxing listening to the waves at night and waking up to beautiful sunrises over the lake. The night skies are beyond words and we were there at the height of the Perseid Meteor showers so, needless to say, we had a great viewing point for that. The owner even let us bring our tent, so we camped out on the property for a couple of nights. The kids loved exploring the property and throwing rocks into the lake. We knew that in the description it said all you had to do was bring food and clothes, but we were still surprised at how much stuff was at the cabin - they even had bug spray there! Nancy, the owner of the property, was great with communicating with me and responded to my e-mails/questions very quickly, and Cam, the property manager, was a delight to talk to. I loved how natural everything was and we had no problem with it being off-grid. Really, the only time we needed to run the generator was when I blow dried my hair, so about 10 minutes tops a day. When we needed to charge our phones, we would just charge them in the car as we drove. I would highly recommend this property to anyone!
Thank you Christie for this beautiful review. It was absolutely our pleasure to host you and your lovely family for your vacation. The voices of your boys came through loud and clear - they loved the nature and adventure of the place. President's Point - Silver Islet holds so many fond memories for our family and it is heartwarming and gratifying seeing your family forming similar great family memories at our special place.
There is nothing more relaxing than to hear the lapping of the waves on the shore as you drift off to sleep and nothing more exciting than to witness the shooting stars of the Perseid meteor showers in the off-grid dark night sky with its millions and billions of visible stars. Sometimes we even get the awesome Northern Lights thrown into the mix!
We would welcome you and your family to re-visit President's Point any time - you were a real joy to host. Thanks again for posting your review. It is much appreciated.
A spectacular location on Lake Superior
President’s Point was the ideal location for our 2017 summer vacation. The spectacular natural setting of Silver Islet, combined with the cottage’s rustic “off the grid” charm made it the perfect venue for us to slow down and enjoy a break from our usually fast-paced lifestyle. Nancy, the property owner, provided us with all of the information we needed to prepare for our visit, while Cam, the property manager was always available to answer our questions and provided a wealth of interesting stories and information about the history of Silver Islet. The cottage is also an ideal location from which to explore Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, one of the most scenic areas on the north shore of Lake Superior. We will definitely be back again!!
Thank you Mark, I couldn’t have said it better myself. The peace, reconnecting with nature and family, the beauty and stories of Silver Islet, access to the great hiking and beaches of the Park— all well conveyed in your review. I am delighted that you and your family enjoyed and appreciated your time at President’s Point. You were lovely guests. We look forward to hosting you again! I will be sure to pass on your comments to our Property Manager, Cam.
All the best, Nancy
