Nice beach cottage!
Great setting if your goal is to enjoy Nantucket without the hustle and bustle of town! Perfect house for family of four.
This house is very remote. 25 min ride to town and in town parking is a nightmare. If you want to be out of hustle of downtown I recommend Siasconset. That way you can take public bus, have access to bike paths, and have access to a few restaurants and a grocery. Wauwinet has no bus route and no bike paths and no gas station or any shop. This house is across the street from a small hotel so that is rather nice and there is a nice dirt path the hike and a 5 min walk to the beach. But no "action" very secluded. Hotel caters to people in their 50-60's celebrating anniversaries. It is pleasant. This house is sweet- it has been renovated. Unfortunately no chairs for the pleasant front porch and no comfortable updated furniture or bedding. If you dine at the hotel you should be able to take the hotel bus shuttle to town that day without being hassled as the hotel offers bus transport to their hotel for diners. This didnt dawn on us til the last day. Winding road to downtown and deer everywhere so getting to town is challenging. At least Sconset was 4 miles away as an option. We liked restaurant chanticleer in sconset.
We agree that the house is on a remote part of the island. That is why people love it. It has all the beauty and charm of the Nantucket of long ago without the hustle and bustle of life today. People go to Wauwinet for the beaches and idyllic beauty, the flora and fauna, and peaceful family time. In fact, The Wauwinet Inn and Wauwinet were included in "1000 Places to See Before You Die" by Patricia Schultz. We recommend that if you want to drive to town, if no spots are easily available, use the valet parking for a small fee. Siasconset is also a beautiful town on the island with a different flavor. A must-see but more congested than Wauwinet. There is something for everyone on Nantucket.
Beautiful spot & perfect family cottage in Wauwinet
We had such a great time in Wauwinet (it's our new favorite spot) and we really enjoyed our stay at House in Pines. It's a great little cottage, perfect for our family and we'll be back again year!
Best house and location in Nantucket
My wife and I were celebrating our 9th anniversary in Nantucket and decided to rent this house for a full week at the end of August.
We have no words to describe how we liked the house, the proximity to the beach (Wauwinet Ocean side) and the convenience of being in front of the hotel (their back garden overlooking the Harbor beach is great for a few afternoon/evening drinks).
We felt at home in this house - recently renovated, clean, spacious, back porch to prepare something at the grill every evening. The location is very quiet and peaceful, and yet it's 10-15 minutes from town (which you will love) and the rest of the beaches.
This was our best anniversary so far, and the owners were a big part of it with great recommendations and insight, very responsive and very flexible.
My wife and I hope that we get to go again to Nantucket, and if we do, it is going to be in this same home.
House in Pines is a beautiful beach cottage - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back. Renovated, lovely home - Wauwinet is a fantastic location with easy access to both Harbor and Ocean beaches, with owners who were an absolutel dream to work with!
