Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous setting.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday staying in this beautiful cottage. It was our home from home. Everything we needed was at our fingertips. The individual touches were also greatly appreciated after a long drive.
The riverside walks in the meadow were relaxing and our dog enjoyed it as much as we did.
Can't wait to return & enjoy more of the Welsh countryside.
Sehr gemütliche, gut ausgestattete Unterkunft in ruhiger, landschaftlich wundervoller Lage
Cottage could be stunning, with some improvements.
Threshold crumbling, main door lock not locking properly..found out on last day! Not a good impression to start with. Main bed bedding, including mattress protector very smelly, extremely unpleasant. Bed itself was ‘loose’, we managed to tighten the alan key fixings. Bathroom was extremely damp, mouldy smelling. In need of cleaning and freshening of the paintwork etc. Lino flooring tearing where wooden flooring underneath is uneven. Toilet pan dirty and marked. Shower cubicle in need of a good clean and update. We had to clean the trap out, after first shower, as it was blocked causing us to stand in deepish water because of in not running away properly. Generally not feeling clean, even after showering, because of how ‘dirty and smelly’ the bathroom was. Had a mouse or water shrew visiting (only saw its bottom end!), over a few days, that we saw, but disappeared in ‘holes’ in flooring in lounge. Generally in need of a good clean throughout, and a freshening of paintwork etc. Banister handrail very sticky, cleaned it and it felt better. Same as main table. Cutlery needed to be washed along with its holder as some cutlery was put away dirty and the holder had lots of crumbs and bits in it. So ended up washing everything before we first used it. Bought fly traps and citronella products etc to try and keep all the flies out. Appreciate being by the river will bring its wildlife...but when it affects living indoors with difficulty, it then becomes ‘uncomfortable ‘. The little rotary washing airier was appreciated, but had to wash it, and the pegs, as they were all dirty, with being left outside in all weathers. Couldn’t hang clean washing out until it was cleaned. A cover for it would be a good idea. We cleaned out the kitchen waste outside as it was blocked and slow running away. That helped a bit.
That all said, a good base for exploring the beautiful area. And it has such potential. The few people we spoke to about the Cottage were pleasant enough and friendly .
We don’t normally complain, and never really needed to before. But we did feel unhappy with our stay on this occasion.
We very much apologise for your experience.
As you can understand that this is a rustic old stone cottage in the middle of the countryside so nature is very abundant and it is almost impossible to keep nature out of the house. Doors and windows are often left wide open for the whole day by visiting guests and with pets brought in it isn’t always practical to leave traps and baits lying around.
We rather if you have issues with cleaning then let us know when you are there. We would have done our best to sort out any issues you have had.
We rather you complain before than complain afterwards since there is nothing we can do to make your stay a better stay.
Once again we are sorry that you didn’t enjoy your experience but appreciate that maybe it is better you complain when you are here because we have not been given a chance to make up for any failings.
Well equipped cottage in relaxed setting.
The cottage is well maintained, clean and good facilities. We had brilliant weather which makes a difference although it was no good for fishing the stream as there was no rain but you can't have everything. We have visited the area for many years and always found the people friendly and the pubs dog friendly. There are many good places and beaches to visit. So a good relaxing holiday.
Neat, comfortable cottage....
A little hard to find. The Sat/Nav got us to the area and we were lucky that the next door neighbors were home to direct us. Lisa was super helpful! We enjoyed our stay and we would love to return.
Thanks for a Wonderful Stay
Lovely detached cottage next to a picturesque stream. Very characterful interior with wood panelling, exposed stone walls and high ceilings. Lovely and cosy too with good heating (we visited in January) Great location next to national park and perfect for exploring the Newport and Cardigan.
