Not what was advertised
You have a beautifully laid out home and we appreciated the location and space. However, I am including a list of issues we came across in our first 15 hours here. Some issues included
Clogged downstairs shower
Water way too hot. My youngest was burnt the first time washing her hands at the sink. Water should not need to be placed at almost cold to have it useable.
Dishes need replacing/lip stick on a mug
The utensils need to be added to (ie tongs)
The range vent hood needs new filters and cleaned
Sound system needs instructions
Fans would be nice in bedrooms
The a/c was having issues. Thank you for sending the repair person. However, a heads up prior to a worker showing up and wanting into the apartment at 8:30am after having traveled the day prior from the west coast would have been very appreciated.
Laundry left damp in dryer
Dishes left in dishwasher
Sofa in front room smells of pee
No soap in the upstairs bathroom
The master bedskirt has unknown substance on it and needs to be cleaned/replaced. This was rather upsetting to see as getting into bed. One then wonders how clean the actual bed is.
The toilet seat in the jack and Jill bath is not attached to the toilet on one side.
While the house is beautiful there were not the basics to make it enjoyable.
Before we left we did start the dishwasher and laundry to hopefully help you not run into those issues with the next stay.
This is a beautifully renovated home.
We do our very best to make sure that every guest is taken care of.
I encourage every guest to reach out to the management team if they see anything that does not meet their expectation.
Remember, this is a private home just like every home and that is why the prices are so very inexpensive.
So at some point, there will be issues that can easily be handled and taken care of rather than waiting to get back home and write a scathing review.
This is not a hotel, it is a private home.
We will continue to do our best in making sure that the beds are made up with white Hotel style ironed Egyptian sheets and Pillowcases.
Nice place to stay
Overall a great stay at La Maria. The space was nice with a lovely kitchen, and the bedrooms and bathrooms were great. We ended up being only half our group, so I can't say how it would have been if our whole family was there. With our smaller number, we didn't need a lot of cookware, though with our whole family, we would have needed larger pots and their lids (didn't see many lids at all). Another thing I would mention is that while we brought our toiletries, we didn't bring hand soap for bathrooms. Only one of the bathrooms had hand soap, so I would suggest to the owner to add that to her amenities. Otherwise a great stay and we would recommend it!
Lovely for the price & great location!!
Pro's. Opening the front door was a pleasant surprise. The home is modern, with beautiful amenities, and great common space to hang with family. We enjoyed cooking a fabulous meal, & playing a game of monopoly. It easily accommodated our 4 children with the 2 pull out couches in the main space, and 2 adult couples in the bedrooms downstairs. It was also nice having separate, & more private space, away from the kids, for the adults to have downtime. LOVE that the home was less than a 10 minute walk from Starbucks & local Safeway, as well as Metro train station. Made us feel like we were part of the suburban/urban DC neighborhood, which is lushly green, & colorful, & we appreciate the diversity coming from the Bay Area in California.
CONS: We were frustrated, having rented a big SUV, & recognizing there was a driveway from the pictures but no directions provided to access. VERY hidden & confusing for directions to back alleyway, that leads the carports behind the house. We ended up getting stuck after finally finding it (in order to make unloading, & coming & going easier from back entry access) making a left out of the drive, rather than a right, because the turn is so tight, we couldn't navigate the SUV to make it out of the drive without hitting the neighboring fences. This should definitely be noted in addition to directions on "how to access the driveway". The freezer was in need of a new filter, so we couldn't use the ice, & had none available, which made using the automatic water and ice feature on the fridge null & void. Clean towels were found thankfully in the dryer, but we had to look. The pull put couches again were so nice to have extra sleeping space, but there were no extra blankets or pillows SO note to bring your own. Basic amenities like soap for shower, were missing as well. The biggest issue for us was the noise while sleeping downstairs. There is absolutely NO insulation, so you can hear EVERYTHING! I have never been awakened by the intensified sound of someone simply walking, or opening a cabinet in the kitchen. Once awaken by the 1st person who wakes & starts the day, there is no going back to sleep. Each & every sound reverberates through the floor. I would recommend bringing ear plugs if you want to sleep well. The only other thing that would be a simple addition & bonus for guests, would be to add patio furniture in order to enjoy coffee or glass of wine, to sit & soak up the neighborhood.
Extended Weekend in DC
Roomy, comfortable, nice location, convenient Uber/Lyft ride to everything DC has to offer. We stayed a few days and overall, we were satisfied. The only negative, and it was a relatively minor negative, was the response time from the property manager. They either took several days to respond or failed to respond at all. There is a parking space on the condo property located directly behind the units, accessible via either the back door from the lower level or the patio door off of the dining room. The condo description says it's free but all of the docs you receive AFTER you pay for the unit stipulate a $20 / day fee. It took over a week for the property mgr to respond and confirm that the parking was free. There are 2(two) units - A & B. We stayed in A. It was nicely appointed and the kitchen was easy to work in and had quite a few utensils. The keys should be labeled. They all fit into all of the locks but only one works - and they all look alike. These were minor annoyances that are easily addressed. We enjoyed the place and will consider it the next time we head down for a long weekend.
We had a great time in Washington and a great experience at this home.
The house is spacious and comfortable. The option of parking behind is convenient. Uber to downtown is around 10$, and super easy to find. We had a great experience.
LOVE this place!
Wow, this met my expectations. My wife and our 4 kids (5-11 yo's) stayed here for President's Day wknd. I wanted more room than a hotel, but didn't want to pay out the nose. Loved the 2 BRs (nice and quiet and dark in the basement), and the 2 pullout couches. 2.5 bathrooms were great too! The upstairs furniture isn't amazing, but we really didn't care. We all felt comfortable here! Location was great for us being we needed to be on the north end of DC. View was beautiful. Neighborhood was so cute (we don't have classic townhouses like this in Minnesota). Half mile to Safeway so we could easily make our own meals. Wish we had a couple more days. Lois was quick and helpful returning questions about payment, and arrival and returned full refund without hassle.
