Pourquoi Françoise FEUGA a choisi Saint-Astier

A beautiful spacious house and garden in an idyllic location
We had a wonderful time staying in this property. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, and the garden is huge- great for children. The hosts, Francoise and Patrick are very helpful and hospitable. The house is in a great position for getting around the Dordogne and a short hop into Saint Astier, a very charming village.
Authentic French experience
This was the perfect place for a few days recovery after walking through the Dordogne. The house is charming and very well equipped. The large leafy garden gives a sense of privacy and space even though it is situated just a short walk across the bridge into the village of St Astier.
Owners Patrick and Francoise could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Be sure to eat at their restaurant in Peregueux, Le Clos St Front. We enjoyed an excellent lunch under linden trees in the restaurant’s lovely cool courtyard.
St Astier is a beautiful village with a lively market on Thursday mornings and is just a short drive into Peregueux.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful part of France.
If you want to experience French living this is a great place to start. The house is superb, very spacious and set in large mature gardens. It is a five minute walk to the main square in Saint Astier, and whilst perhaps not the prettiest of villages, it does offer everything you will need from Boucheries, Boulangeries and supermarkets to bars and restaurants. The location is a perfect starting point to explore the main tourists sights of the south Dordogne.
Francoise and Patrick were perfect hosts. When we had a small issue with a key were with us within 15 minutes. They also run a superb fine dining restaurant in Perigueux "Le Clos Saint-Front" which we would highly recommend if you are looking for a special meal (If you want to go in the evening best book well in advance).
We loved our stay in the Dordogne and being in their home was a major part of our enjoyment.
Highly recommended and we hope to return soon.
A wonderful family holiday home
This is a beautiful house in an enormous, peaceful garden on the outskirts of a pretty and prosperous village on the the banks of the River Isle. Easy access by road but with added bonus of a railway station with fairly frequent trains to Perigueux and Bordeaux. Our welcome was warm and unhurried and the house had been very nicely prepared for our arrival.
The house is decorated with great style and, although it has a few of the minor quirks that you would find in any well lived-in family home of its age, it is very well equipped, wonderfully spacious and very comfortable.
Around and about, St-Astier market is one of the best I've seen with all sorts of stalls tucked into alleys and courtyards throughout the town centre. The house is near to some slightly less fashionable wine districts, Bergerac and Duras are the nearest - even in the local supermarket the selection is good and well priced. There are some lovely walks, from half an hour to full day in length easily accessible from the house. And the Feugas run one of the best restaurants in the nearby town of Perigueux. We visited them there for a memorable lunch. If you follow us, go by train - you really won't want to drive home afterwards.
This house would make a wonderful base for a family holiday in a really delightful part of the world. Highly recomended
