Great short stay
Lovely property in lovely little village. Very clean... probably the cleanest we’ve stayed in.
We only stayed for one night but would certainly return. A few nice touches made a big difference to our stay, some guidebooks, games, milk, biscuits and a few other basic supplies like salt, pepper, sugar came in handy. We loved our stay at the cottage and in the peaks (so much to see and do!). Overall a great mini break.
Stayed for one night for the chatsworth flower show. Cottage was clean, cosy and ideally located near amenities, Tideswell is a very pretty village. If I was looking to stay longer and do more outdoor pursuits it would have been less ideal, due to the very poor water pressure for showering. The arial connection for the tv was broken, but dvds were provided. For a short stay I would recommend this cottage, it's charming and quaint and does the job.
Thank you, would recommend for short stay
Very clean and well presented cottage, perfectly located centrally in the village. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and clean towels & bedding. Nice to have a sunny spot outdoors (in the raised garden) to sit and share a bottle of wine. Had a friendly and speedy response to a question from the cottage owner prior to us arriving, and experienced fuss-free entry to the cottage using a keysafe box.
Easy walking distance to nearby pubs (one is located directly over the road!) Tideswell is a quiet village with a really nice circular walk in the surrounding dales, including a lunch stop in Litton.
Only dropped a star because of the poor shower; low water pressure and difficult to get to temp. It wouldn’t put us off from staying again, if for a night or two, but would perhaps be less tolerable over a much longer stay. We found it pretty relaxing not to have WiFi or signal (to get away from our phones!) but worth a thought to download anything you might need (e.g. entry code, walk routes etc.) before you go just in case. I couldn’t get signal anywhere in the village.
Would recommend for short stays, thank you.
Lovely Stay in Perfect Location
Tideswell is pretty much in the middle of the Peak District. The property is diagonally opposite the Horse & Jockey Pub so easy to find. You are a short walk from all the facilities, Tideswell retains most of it's shops. The property is compact but all the fittings and decorations are recent. The shower was just fine but don't fill the kettle at the same time. Pity we couldn't stay longer.
Perfect weekend away
We had a fantastic girls walking holiday and the cottage was a great base to go from! The village has some great pubs - we loved our meal at The Merchants Yard. The cottage was clean, nicely decorated and in a great location.
Great location for exploring the peak district.
Ideal location, clean and functional and cosy. Tideswell has some wonderfull 'foody' places to explore. The little terrace garden was nice. We would visit again but the only bits that let the property down ( which are generally expected these days for holiday rentals) was the lack of 'WiFi' -( it was advertised it had no wifi) , the oven only the top heating element seemed to work so things took a bit longer to cook. The shower struggled because of the lack of water pressure -which is a water board issue(maybe the owner should contact the water board as it is a legal requirement for them to supply you with a minimum of 4.5 litres in 30 seconds from your kitchen tap). We were visiting family for a funeral but it was lovely space to relax afterwards, thank you.
