Comfortable family apartment
Our apartment in Salamanca was on a fairly busy street about a 10-minute walk from the historic city center. There are some businesses on the street, but we didn't check out many of them. The bakery two blocks down was underwhelming, but we did have a supermarket right downstairs to make up for it. There are more cafes on Gran Vía, which is between the apartment and the historic center.
I didn't see the nearest park, but DH took the girls there and said it was nice. It's called Parque de las Jesuitas and was about a 5-minute walk from the apartment (going away from the center).
Our apartment had 3 bedrooms, 1 bath with a shower/tub combo, washer, and drying rack on the small terrace. The AC unit was in the living room. Like in Barcelona, we cranked it up so that the cool air would spread throughout the apartment, with some success. There were also 2 fans. During the day, we'd place the oscillating one in the living room to strategically blow cool air out. At night, the fans would go in the bedrooms (we had the girls share a room so everyone could get some cool air). The living area itself had comfortable seating and was the most spacious of all the apartments we rented on the trip.
The property managers were also very conscientious and helpful. They gave us some recommendations and pointed out many places of interest on a map in the apartment that guests can use.
In all, we had a good stay here. My only suggestion is to bring in another fan so that every bedroom can have one.
Perfect location for month long stay for students
Apartment was perfect for a month long stay for 3 students. Apartment was adequately furnished and had 3 bedrooms with A/C in each room and living area. WIFI worked great, had a small repair item and owners took care of it graciously and promptly. Owners were great with both check in and out. Was situated within 10 minutes walking distance to Plaza Mayor and Cathedral.
Great location, large apartment, very comfortable
My husband and I stayed here for 3 months in the winter. We had a wonderful time.
The best part of staying here is Manuela and her husband Jose. They were incredibly responsive to every inquiry, they answered all our questions, and they are both very, very nice. We were new to Salamanca it was was very reassuring to know that they were there for us.
The location of the apartment is fantastic, especially if you like to take long walks or if you are a runner. The apartment is a less than 5 minute walk to the Jesuits Park (Parque de los Jesuitas, which is a lovely park to walk or run in) and it is also close enough (10 minute walk) to the walking/biking/running path along the Rio Tormes (the walking path along the Rio Tormes is great for long walks or runs). The apartment is also very near to several grocery stores, (there is a regular Dia market not even a 5 minutes walk away, there is a more upscale one just a block further, and there is a larger Mercadona on the other side of the park, not to mention all the butchers, bakeries, fruit and vegetable markets just on the street), close to the cultural center of Salamanca, close to the Plaza Mayor, close to the cathedrals, etc. And yet, you don't feel like you are a tourist living in a tourist apartment, you are living in a real neighborhood. It is safe, secure, and easily accessible by walk or bus to all parts of Salamanca.
The apartment itself is spacious. It has 3 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom with a tub, and a hallway. The living room is nice in that it has 2 couches and has a nice view of the city street below (nice to look across the street and see the bakery). The kitchen is well equipped. There is ample water pressure and everything worked well. On the one occasion during our 3 month stay there was a problem, it was fixed the same day, which again is a tribute to Manuela.
Salamanca is a lovely town. It is beautiful and the Plaza Mayor is the prettiest in all of Spain. And if you want to study Spanish, Salamanca is without a doubt, the best place to be.
All in all, if we return to Salamanca we would definitely stay here again at Manuela's apartment.
