They didn't know we were coming...
This rental experience was not smooth at all. My 2 friends and I arrive in Austin at 1am after a long day of travel from California. We get to the main gate (it is drizzling rain and very cold at this point), where the instruction say should be open, but the gate is dead-bolted. There are two lock boxes attached to the gate, but there is no reference to any code for them in the instructions. We struggle trying to see if the code they provided for the main house door might work on the lock boxes, to no success. My friend hops the gate to see if he can get into the house and find a key for the main gate. The house is also dead bolted; the code works to unlock the bottom lock, but the top is dead-bolted. I had to call Julie (the rental manager, not the owner) in the middle of the night, and she struggles to find us a code for the 2 lock boxes at the gate, but to no success. She says the owner must have forgotten that we were on the schedule to stay. Julie says she is only a few blocks away and comes to the house - she doesn't recognize the 2 lock boxes, and asks my friend (who is still on the inside of the gate) to see if there is another lock box anywhere else.... after a while he finds one tucked away and is able to open it with a different code provided by Julie. We all enter the house (with Julie), and the house isn't cleaned and ready for us! Julie and her boyfriend quickly "clean" the house, and although I very much appreciated her coming in the middle of the night, it is not the level of "cleaning" I would expect to have been done in preparation for a new guest. By this point, we are exhausted and just willing to make-do with the situation, but definitely insufficient circumstances by Homeaway standards. We make-do and explore Austin the next day, but when we return to the house, we notice the dead bolt is once again locked on the main gate! My friend has to hop the fence again to get to the hidden lock box AGAIN! This was super weird - don't know who would have locked it. Then, during our stay there, the actual owner of the house comes into the house, and is surprised to see us there - I'm not sure how the fact that we were there was not communicated by Julie to the owner after the mishap on the first night. The location of this house is great and central, but I have to say, this was an uncoordinated mess of a vacation rental experience. They also had a poorly construction side table that collapsed by my friend's 1-year old!
Clean and Nicely Appointed home in a Perfect Location
This is the second time I have stayed here and I love it. The place is very well kept and perfectly located on the Eastside, yet very close to downtown. Julie is fantastic to work with. I highly recommend it. Thanks!

Lovely cottage, modern, clean and comfortable, and quiet. Great location! Walkable to everywhere in East Austin and, if you like to explore cities by foot, it's easy to walk to the Capitol, LBJ Presidential Library, UT campus, downtown, South Congress, Barton Springs, Zilker Park and the riverside trails.

Took my wife to Austin for her birthday and had a great time. We were able to walk to lots of great restaurants and bars. Were were never hungry or bored. The unit itself was very clean and the host was responsive and accommodating. Would absolutely stay again.
Great location with modern amenities.
Easy walking distance to Eastside nightlife and a short ride to UT. Well appointed living space. Would have liked to have had bedside reading lights. Is not apparent by the photo but you have to climb steps to get to the apartment some of which were not standard size and those posed a challenge for my wife due to her bad hip. We would stay there again.

Quatre blocs vous obtenir à travers I-35 à d'innombrables restaurants et bars. Easy Tiger est l'aller pour de bon comme Paris-pâtisseries à l'étage et nourriture, boissons et ping-pong en bas le long Waller Creek. Maintenant, vous êtes à distance de frappe de l'infâme cinéma Alamo Drafthouse. Hit de la randonnée et de sentiers de vélo (1 mile away) et de voir la brume du petit matin sur le lac tranquille. Tant de choses à faire.
