Excited to arrive, very sad to leave
Rebecca,
Nicole and I had a wonderful time exploring the cabin, surrounding towns and restaurant's . We both enjoyed hearing about the history and its very rustic appearance. We both hope to return some day for another visit, thanks
Michael and Nicole
Nice rustic stay
Beautiful stay two night stay for our family of four! So much character to this little place from beautiful paintings to amazing tile work. Enjoyed every bit of it!!
An unbeatable cozy cabin by the river
We had another wonderful stay at the Little Yew Lodge. We had everything we needed for a cozy stay, and the kitchen was very well-equipped. The cabin and the surrounding woods are like something out of a fairy tale, and its close to some great hikes and the wonderful Timberline Lodge. If you are visiting this area, you'd be crazy to stay anywhere else.
very cozy
We had a great time. The view we spectacularly stunning. Forgot my dirty pj's.
Haha, I have your pjs! Send me a message and we'll coordinate a way to get them back to you :)
AMAZING
This cozy cabin makes my heart sing! Can't wait to go back again!
Photos are Misleading
We were not too impressed with the cabin itself. It was in dire need of deep cleaning (the dust on the fireplace stones & main support beams were months, if not years in need of dusting.) The set up is awkward with sleeping quarters & bathroom in one cabin, main living area in another. The bed in the side cabin is really soft - the one in the loft of the main cabin is better - they should switch them! The picture shown to the left must have been taken just after power-washing the walkway. It was so covered with moss & debris that we didn't even realize it was a walkway until the 2nd day there. The pictures make the cabin appear to be right on the river, when in actuality, it is high up on a cliff with no river access. The owner talked of a river access a few doors down, but the path was overgrown & hard to maneuver through. We never made it down to the river. We woke to the electricity being out & had to go into town to get breakfast. Luckily, the lights had returned by the time we got back. The owner did give us a $50 credit for the inconvenience, which was nice. If the Fire Marshall ever inspected - they would probably shut it down until the electrical was updated. There are power strips with several lamps, stereo, & woodstove blower plugged into them. The cabin is over-priced for what you get. It's rustic at best. I guess they are charging prime rate for the limited view & sound of the river. We won't be returning...Hope they get a cleaning crew in to do a more thorough job. It really needs it!
I'm sorry to hear you were unhappy! I do want to note that I love our cleaners and their great work is reflected in all the other 5 star reviews we get for cleanliness - not only on VRBO, but the 200+ 5 star reviews we have on a different rental website. I'm happy to say that guests often directly mention cleanliness as a positive aspect of the cabin.
Re: the electricity, your review implied it was an issue with the cabin, when it was actually a regional outage from a tree falling on a power line nowhere near the cabin, which I recall telling you after looking it up online. Thankfully PGE got it back on within a couple of hours; I'm also glad the rebate I gave you was appreciated. The power strips indeed have lamps and the woodstove blower plugged into them, but I'm not certain what might be the problem with that? That's what power strips are for, right? :)
Re: the walkway, since you came in November, it's going to be very likely that you will find many fallen leaves and twigs on the property. We have it regularly maintained but that's the nature of a property that is covered with trees, which regularly shed in the fall. We don't have our landscaper come between every guest, it's true, and those windy, autumnal days can indeed conspire to blanket the path with crunchy leaves and pine needles!
I can't imagine how the photos of the river are misleading since they're taken right on the deck - but it sounds like the cabin wasn't the right match for your tastes overall? I only wish you had shared your feelings with me during your stay so I could have potentially addressed some of your concerns. Regardless, best of luck with your continued travels on VRBO and beyond!
