This was a great place to getaway and unplug at the end of summer. The house was had everything we needed to relax and enjoy our stay.
Being able to unwind and enjoy family time are key to a wonderful vacation. I am so glad that "Aruba North" allowed you to do this. Thanks for being such great guests.
Perfect lakeside retreat
Susan's home was spotless and well equipped with everything we needed for a perfect stay. we loved all the water toys and we're out on the kayaks and water boards every day. The beach was private and was visited every morning by a family of ducks and once by three sandhill cranes. Thanks for leaving easy to understand instructions for TV, garbage disposal, etc and for excellent wifi. We will definitely be back.
I am so glad that your first trip to "Aruba North" was enjoyed by all. By all means do come back some time.
Beautiful Lake, Great House
The lake (Tripp Pond) was beautiful and warm. It is shallow and therefore not cold. There was a nice sandy beach entrance and a great dock. We utilized the canoe, paddleboat, kayaks and float toys. I was aware from the description and review that there was a campground next door. The reviews either didn't mention it at all or stated that the campground was quiet. Unfortunately, it was pretty loud for our stay. The beach for the campground is right next door. Kids and adults were loud all day every day. So while we were not expecting total quiet, we were also not expecting so much activity so close to the rental. The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We grilled and cooked in most nights as there aren't many restaurants close by. The grill broke one night and it was replaced with a great , new one by 11am the following morning! Susan is very nice and responsive. We also enjoyed the coffee cake she left for us upon our arrival. We stayed during July 4th and the Lake area puts on fireworks Two nights in a row. Good to know going in if you have a dog. We brought our dog and she loved the place. There was even a doggy life jacket for her. She braved the boat. Overall we enjoyed ourselves. Thanks
I am so sorry Aruba North did not meet all your expectations. In the property description I am upfront that I abut the campgrounds and it is not an isolated location. I think it is only fair that people are aware of this before booking. It is true within a 10 mile radius there are only a few restaurants, but expand to 15 miles and there is a slew of every kind of restaurant you could want. This is common in many parts of Maine where everything is "just down the road a piece". The fireworks are not for everyone. Some of them go off on the camp property next door to the cottage. I n your initial inquiry I did mention the fourth of July activity-"Thank you for your interest in my cottage nicknamed "Aruba North". Tripp lake is a wonderful lake for paddle boarding, kayaking and boating. It is very relaxing and serene (except the 4th of July with fireworks and a boat parade weather permitting). I will be happy to accept your reservation but do need to speak in person." In our subsequent phone conversation I suggested keeping your dog in the back bedroom furthest away from the commotion. I perhaps should have been more thorough in describing the activities during that week. This review has given me reason to ponder my dog policy (and small children) for that particular week. There is always room for improvement. I am very glad you enjoyed most of your stay and were able to utilize the many amenities. Sorry it wasn't completely what you were expecting..
The hostess with the Mostest!!!
This property is AMAZING!!! it’s clean, and stocked with all you need for a family get away or cozy couple retreat. The beachfront cottage has amazing views of the lake and mountains! The rooms a large and breezy and has the comforts of home. The owner was truly awesome as well!!! Far enough out yet close to lots of attractions!! We couldn’t of asked for a better place to spend our vacation and you won’t either!!!! Thank you for the hospitality 😎
Thank you for your kind review. I hope you got to tour the area a bit via motorcycle. you are welcome back any time, but maybe bring the grandchildren.
Beautiful and peaceful setting
We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful cottage in early autumn. The cottage is very comfortable and well appointed and we enjoyed the paddle boat and paddle boards while there. It is only steps to the water with a very nice private little beach area. I hope that we have a chance to return for a longer stay next time!
Thank you for your review. The fall season is a world unto it's own. Warm enough to still enjoy water activities, but a whole different atmosphere emerges with the change of seasons. Glad you all enjoyed your time and come back again.
Everything we wished for!
Susan's cottage is simply adorable! When we arrived, everything was spotless and very inviting. We are a family of 5, between the ages of 26 and 60, and everyone found something fun and/or relaxing to do, everyday of our stay. The lake is clean and warm, since it is shallow. If you leave your windows open in the morning, you can wake up to the loons singing. The kitchen is well equipped and fun to cook into, the living room is cozy, the bedrooms are clean and comfortable. My favorite moment was sitting on the dock in the morning, with my mom, coffee in hand. Grocery store is a 10 minutes ride and has everything you need. Susan is a very nice and generous host. We would have stayed another week if we could have! We highly recommend it!
I hope you will come back. Your family was delightful. I am glad you enjoyed the tranquility of the lake first thing in the morning. More mornings await you.
