It was a nice property and had all the things we needed. The property manager was awesome by having milk eggs and ice cream there for us. Thanks Steve we enjoyed it all. The only thing I would suggest is some kind of table and chairs out back for sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather and to have local TV channels at least available.
This place is nestled in a beautiful area and became our hub for exploring the surrounding area. Check in and out process was a breeze! We loved cooking on the griddle! A couple little criticisms we have would be that the bed on the main level (it was just the two of us) was too stiff for our liking and pillows too flat for our liking. There is a window in the living room that doesn’t lock. The eggs and ice cream other guests talked about we did not receive. Besides those things, we truly did enjoy our stay. Each night we walked down to the levy to watch the sunset, each day we explored surrounding small towns, went hiking in the beautiful parks, and enjoyed the drives around the bluffs.
Nice rural home in a small town on the Mississippi River
This house is in a great location by the Mississippi River. A short walk to the River. House is decorated with cool charm and character with everything you may need for your stay. Roomy and very enjoyable for everyone.
Home away from home
It’s so nice when you are traveling to have a kitchen and a living room to hang out in. We had room for the kids to play games and enough space for everyone to be comfortable sleeping. A lot of thought and effort was put into making this a great place to stay. We would definitely stay here again!
Three Generations Under One Roof
Great Place! Jeremy answered all my ?s ahead of time, including the current access code, so we knew how to plan for 3 generations under 1 roof. Brought along a Pack N Play for the toddler & an air mattress for the 3 yr. old so they could sleep in parent's spacious bedroom. Some day they'll be ready for the bunk bed room.
Ultimate = perfection! Homey comfort, tasteful decor, awesome kitchen & even a washer & dryer!
It took us no time at all to transform the porch into a playroom with lots of space to spread out toys. How bonkers busy! Great to live together this slice of time. How totally delightful to wake up to hear a Happy Birthday song for Grandma - first time in my history. So very, very special!!
Daytrips had the tots in mind, playgrounds being paramount. Played at Wyalusing, Pike's Peak & Prairie du Chien's Fun Fort, which was the most elaborate & which also offered a pool /splash pad. (If older, Spook Cave (IA) would've been on the itinerary.) Great to have an A/C to return to.
Son & Fam left before us & we had a day of adventure on our own. Ten min. So. was Stonefield, a visit to the past. So much to see & ponder on the lives of the bygone era. Such clever ways to deal with problems. A horse tred mill attached to a gear assembly to generate "horse power"? Genius!
Those of higher society/privilege, namely the Nelson Dewey Fam (whose home was also on tour) enjoyed pampering, lavish possessions etc. There's a peculiar window on an upper floor set in on an obvious angle. It has a story. Eventually Nelon Dewey/Wis. 1st gov., died a pauper. Another story.
We chose to picnic in Nelson Dewey park. Although the overlook area is breathtakingly beautiful, we tried our luck in the campground hoping walk-in site D was open. Being right on the high ridge, not for tots, we recalled our own bygone time camping there during migration season. We were one with the birds. We were "in a nest". Awesome but risky.
These days how fortunate we are to be able to stay, instead, in total comfort at the White House. Perfect. We definitely hope to return.
