Wonderful surroundings superb accommodation friendly and helpful host and hostess. Hope to return one day
Thank you for the lovely review. We thoroughly enjoyed having you to stay and hope very much to see you both sometime soon.
What a lovely place to stay
Lovely setting ideal place to chill and weather was perfect.
The Annex is warm and cosy with all mod cons just the place to relax after a day out walking with the dog.
Quiet idyll for nature lovers
Compact and spotlessly clean, the Annex was our home from home for a week in the summer. Cathy was tremendously helpful, providing us with an extra heater to dry our things afer a particularly rainy day, and putting a wash on for us. We were also lucky enough to receive eggs from her own hens, which were delicious! The welcome pack was helpful and the Welsh cakes just the thing after a long journey. We slept very well in the comfy bed and enjoyed sitting in the garden with a cuppa watching the wildlife. Thanks for a great stay!
Thank you for your lovely review. We so enjoyed having you to stay and Herman was a perfect dog. We are just sorry the weather couldn't have been kinder to you.
Great location, surroundings & host. Cathy was very thoughtful. We had a lovely comfortable stay.
On arrival we received a warm welcome from Cathy who showed us around her property. The annex was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Kitchen well equipped. Cathy was very thoughtful and also provided us with Welsh cakes, fruit, milk, tea etc.
The surroundings were beautiful, colourful and peaceful. Whilst sitting in the lounge, we saw a red kite fly into the trees. Very relaxing and tranquil sitting next to the river.
My elderly mother and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend.
Hope to visit again soon. X
Thank you for your lovely review. We so enjoyed hosting you and your mother and now really look forward to welcoming you back at the end of the month with your partner.
Not what we expected from an owners direct property.
Although the property was nice and clean it was quite small. The only seating was a sofa bed which was rather uncomfortable. The lighting was energy saving but too dim for us older clients to read by. The sound on the television was very muffled and unusable. The tv was replaced three days later on Saturday but still had the same problem and it appeared the sky box needed upgrading which could not be done until after our holiday was over. The radio only picked up local stations not radio 4 our preferred listening. We found the property unsuitable for older people, shower over bath had no grab rails to assist entry and exit and the bathroom was very dark. Mirrors were positioned very low. The outdoor seating areas looked super on the website but were very disappointing, the summerhouse had not been opened for ages, covered in cobwebs, outdoor tables and seats covered in chicken droppings. Plant pots around patio full of dead plants, the whole outdoor space looked uncared for.
Sadly I would not recommend this property.
I am not sure how I should respond to this review, as we do try & talk to our guests to make sure everything is ok, and actually because of the TV problem we did talk to them a lot and none of the above grievances were mentioned. I do find it a rather poor refection on society as a whole when people resort to writing things down, without talking about them - a real stab in the back.
Firstly, these guests stayed Thurs - Thurs & we were notified about the TV on Friday. We immediately bought a new one, thinking it was the TV that had gone wrong, & as my husband works 45 hour a week, the next day to fit it was Saturday. It was unfortunate, that actually it was a Sky issue, so we had to wait for an engineer and the next available slot was Thursday. Because we are in a wooded valley, we can only get Sky, no terrestrial or radio signals, but now that Sky is up and running again there is the full package again, including all radio stations.
The holiday let seating area doesn't have chicken poop on it - an area outside of the wooden gate does have an old table and chair and the chickens use this to hide/enjoy the weather. No way is this for people to sit on and if we did I would have to hose this down daily!! We have quite a few benches and other seating areas on our land, which are chicken free, where our guests can sit and enjoy the wildlife or peace and quiet.
The summerhouse is for our use and we very rarely sit in there as we are too busy.
The garden is under stress at present because of the heat wave - it is impossible to water everything in a garden this size and I will concentrate on pots again when the weather changes.
I changed the bulbs in the annex in May to bright LED - there is plenty of light in the lounge, the bathroom doesn't have a window - so will be dark!! and most people want mood lighting in the bedroom.
Mirrors are a preference - what happens if you are small!
I have taken on board about the grab rails in the bathroom and will look to get these installed later in the year.
The annex is small, but we have used to space well and is very well equipped, with everything you need for a comfortable stay - the bed is very comfy.
It is funny how the previous guests liked it so much they have booked again for next year!
