Très bel appartement, très propre, très bien aménagé. Literie confortable.
Lovely apartment, well furnished and equipped and centrally located. The only problem for us was the 5 flights of stairs. This was entirely my fault as it is clearly stated in the property description, but it did prove a little exhausting for 72 year olds! Still, we are probably much fitter now. Excellent communication from Javier on any question.
You are younger in spirit than most of my hosts, Mike!
Overall very nice
This apartment was lovely- it was cleaned well, very spacious and comfortable, and filled with nice touches. Paloma and Javier were very helpful and kind during check-in and in dealing with any problems. Great location close to Puerta del Sol- easy walking distance to La Latina metro stop, Plaza Mayor, Sol, etc.
I would absolutely give this apartment 5 starts, but for two problems. The first may not even apply to everyone. The apartment is very spacious and airy, but there are a number of decorative openings in the walls (including between the two bathrooms) and some of the doors do not shut all the way. I rented the apartment with a friend; we slept in the two bedrooms. In the evenings, he had to make some phone calls back to the US, and because of these wall openings, I could hear every word that he said - it was impossible for me to fall asleep. Fortunately we are very close friends so we generally did not mind that we could hear each other in the bedrooms and bathrooms, but these late-night calls were made difficult by the open apartment. For people traveling as a couple, however, this might not affect you- just something to be aware of. I should also point out that the apartment was a fifth floor walk-up (actually 6th floor as European buildings start counting at 0), so if mobility is an issue for you, be aware. The final problem that I encountered had to do with mosquitos. I don't know if this was a function of the apartment, but I was eaten alive at night- I left Madrid with 50 mosquito bites on my arms and face. Granted, I am one of those people who mosquitos love to bite, but it made the trip rather unpleasant once all the itching kicked in. Javier was very nice and sprayed the apartment once I made him aware of this problem, but I still received some additional bites even after. I have never visited Madrid in March before, so I don't know if this is a common problem (my friend, of course, got absolutely no bites!), but another spraying couldn't hurt and I would strongly suggest that travelers bring repellent.
wonderful apartment and managers
We loved this apartment. It was large, very clean (thanks, Paloma!), and comfortable. I was particularly impressed with Javier's quick responses to any questions or concerns I had. He was very easy to work with. As long as you are OK with walking the stairs up to the apartment, I highly recommend this apartment for a visit to Madrid.
Central Madrid property - friendly, clean, cool, pet-friendly
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Madrid. Javier is a wonderful host - probably the most informative and helpful I've ever rented from. Want to know where to park? How to get to the Metro? Where dog-friendly eateries are? What stop to get off of to visit the US Embassy? No problem - Javier is there to help. The air conditioning was a real plus during the recent heat wave. We would definitely rent from Javier in the future. One item to be aware of - the piso we rented is on the 5th floor, and there is no elevator. For us not a problem, but we tend to travel light.
