We came to the Bear Den for a weekend escape. It was perfect. It snowed, so the scenery was beautiful. The trail near the cabin connects to Henry’s Woods and we had a great time snowshoeing. The fireplace was a great way to cozy up afterwards. It was close to town and our favorite place to eat, Lisa G’s. We loved it.
Perfect cabin in the woods
We loved the Bear Den! It was very clean ,well stocked, and convenient to town. We appreciated that we could bring our dog too. The owner was very nice and we look forward to staying there again in the future.
Perfect for exploring Lake Placid and the High Peaks Region
Perfect location, unique property with wonderful furnishings and design touches. Would definitely stay again.
Excellent location- wonderful property!
Only suggestion would be to put some lights under the kitchen cabinets because cooking is kind of dark. Wonderful stay!!
Was nice place , great location , everything we wanted to see was in close distance.
Very nice place and location I agree with other people could use more lighting in living room. And would recommend curtains on kitchen and living room sliding doors for more privacy. Definitely needs air conditioning as windows don’ Open easily with blinds and the bathroom ones that do don’t have screens. Maybe fence in yard as neighbors dogs run free and as I had older dog made it a little uncomfortable always having to keep a eye out for them just showing up in yard . Was a very nice camp though .
Perfect cozy cabin
My husband and I stayed here for a week in August and had a wonderful time.
The cabin has two choices of outdoor seating, rocking chairs on the covered front porch and adirondack chairs in the backyard around a fire pit. Upon entering the cabin you are in the updated kitchen and although we did not do much cooking it seemed to have a lot of dishes and utensils so that you could cook meals if you wanted. There is also a beautiful well lit table with bench seating.
Off the kitchen is the updated bathroom, and while small has everything you need along with cubby holes to store toiletries while you are there.
The living room is spacious and very comfortable, with a large dining table along one wall. This room is lit by four wall sconces and has a wood burning fireplace. Since we were there in August we did not use the fireplace or the outdoor fire pit.
We stayed in the bedroom with the king size bed and it was extremely comfortable. At night we turned on the small fan in the room and slept soundly.
The walk into town is not that bad and a good way to get some exercise. We also discovered hiking trails close to the cabin which was a nice bonus. One of the houses near the cabin has three dogs that are not kept on leashes. They did not come up to the cabin but if you plan to bring your dog just be aware.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice quiet place to stay near Lake Placid. However, be warned that you may have a hard time dragging yourself away to do anything as it is so comfortable and homey. We loved sitting on the front porch drinking coffee every morning watching the chipmunks and butterflies.
