Unbearable without AC or screens on the windows
I cannot believe how misleading the other reviews were. We arrived after dark in a heavy rain after mistaking 2 other homes for the correct one. The house was hot and had a mildew odor so we immediately opened up the windows to allow a breeze in, but then had instant bugs. We learned that to cool down the place at night, we had to walk around in the dark with flashlights to avoid getting too many insects flying about.
Things we enjoyed: the mornings were lovely on the balcony looking out at the view and the birds. The pool at Hotel Linda Vista was nice, and we used the concierge to book a great all-day excursion.
Incredible Views! So peaceful!
A little hard to get to, but definitely worth it! Best views around. Every morning start your day with birdsong and unbeatable views. Use of the pool at Hotel Linda Vista a bonus. Great restaurants and things to do . A hidden gem
This house is a little dated, but the view is just incredible. In fact we drove all around the volcano, and the view of it from this house was the best. We spent a lot of time on the porch! Lovely breeze blows through the bedroom at night, and there’s a friendly horse next door. A few suggestions: we could have used a little house information, like the potability of the tap water. There was a small supply of oil and spices which is always helpful (I think every place should have that, and a few coffee filters). I think we chose wisely though, it was a unique house.
Wonderful GetAway in Paradise
We stayed at Villa Esperanza Early Feb. 2019 and had a great time. The location of the property is superb, with fantastic views of the lake, volcano and surrounding countryside. The house was fairly well equipped and very comfortable. While there, we went to some local attractions, Butterfly Museum, Hanging Bridge tour, and Cano Negro Pontoon boat tour. All were very well presented with good guides. The food in the local restaurants was quite good, but you want to do your grocery shopping in the bigger towns and cities. The Pool and Facilities at Hotel Linda Vista were really nice. One thing to note is there is no hot water at the sinks, only the shower ... which is normal in many Costa Rica homes. We needed 2 chairs for the deck and they were delivered promptly. We would highly recommend this property.
My husband and I stayed at Esperanza for 14 days and wished we could have stayed for 40! It’s a lovely classic mountain home in the northern lowlands with fabulous wood ceilings, doors, and woodwork. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms clean and functional. The window views are only surpassed by the porch views. Absolutely enchanting! Perched high on a hill overlooking charming tiny El Castillo one looks out at Lake Arenal, the smoldering Arenal Volcano, fields with grazing cattle and horses, and hundreds of beautiful birds. Enchanting ! Gladis is a love and always helpful. House located near all major activities in the area and close to some incredible restaurants: Phoenix, Loma Linda, Amigos, Essence , and Tabacon. Would highly recommend time with Gladis and morena, her devoted pup!
