Excellent for us and our son. Enjoyed our stay.
We would come back!
Great location but unit itself needs a little updating
The location is awesome, right on the beach and it is nice to be in a resort, although the room/condo itself is a bit old. Kitchen is updated and had all the utensils we needed, and the size of the place was perfect for us. However, consistent with previous reviews, the AC unit emits a musty smell & the carpet clearly needs to be replaced. It's best to open the screen glass door and let fresh air in most of the time. I would definitely stay at Lahaina shores resort again but I would personally opt for a different unit unless they fix the Air/smell.
Keep the Property Awesome
Awesome Property and Location.
However, the property has a central A/C system, so this comment relates to the entire 3rd floor, possibly the entire building. There is a distinct mold smell coming from the A/C system that is quite noticeable if you leave the sliding glass door shut for a couple of hours.
I would suggest using a ductwork sanitizer and then installing a UV light inside the ductwork at the A/C coils designed to kill mold and keep the ductwork free of microorganisms.
This is an awesome property and location that deserves to be well maintained. Best of luck
Horrible smell, BLACK MOLD in AC vents!!
The place had a very funky smell upon entry, so we opened the lanai door and had the fan on which helped slightly. Second day we had terrible headaches and couldn’t sleep the second night. That morning we looked around and found lots of painted over mildew in the cupboards and cabinets and black mold stains on the ceiling above the AC vent and in the vent itself. Since this is a very bad health issue, we were able to bring it to vrbo’s attention. That being said the property manager was extremely apologetic and offered us a full refund, however we then needed to hunt and scramble to find any available room last minute which was not fun and a very expensive process to be dealing with ‘on vacation’. (Note: The refund has not been issued yet so we will be following up with this now we are back from the islands).
The first people we talked to on Vrbo were very helpful, and comped us one night because the listing we were hoping to stay instead did not have availability for the first night in question. But then THAT property fell through because the owner did not respond to approve our request. The next person we talked to with vrbo refused to assist us in any way, so we were completely stranded for two nights. Luckily the people at the new hotel (a place we stayed before and knew was clean) helped us find a room for the two nights even though they were booked solid.
Hopefully this issue at Lahaina Shores is resolved for future guests. It seems the maintenance on the room is done by the general maintenance crew of the building itself. As the issue was merely painted over in the past, I don’t trust this will be resolved unless the owner of the unit itself hires an outside crew to perform maintenance. Just a very strong word of caution for anyone considering staying here.
