A week in Buckden
We were very pleased with the property and would consider staying there again. The surrounding area was of course sublime.
We walked every day and only used the car once, for a trip to Hawes. However we spent a lot of time worrying about the Virus (we are each in a potentially vulnerable group) which put a damper on the week to some extent.
So, Virus excepted, a splendid week. It would be nice to come back one day.

Well equipped cottage in beautiful location
Everything we needed except the weather!
A beautiful cottage in an idyllic location.
A lovely, cosy, warm and very well equipped cottage which is maintained to a high standard by the owners. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and the massive bed makes for a very comfortable nights sleep. If you must share the cottage with anyone else the second bedroom is a great size and well laid out too. The large, dog friendly garden has plenty of spots to sit and make the most of the Dales sunshine (not guaranteed). There are some spectacular walks from Buckden so its great to just leave the car at the cottage and set off across those hills. Lots of choice for food and drink but the best pub has to be The George at Hubberholme. Great food, great beer and fantastic company. We had a lovely week and will be back.
Enjoyed our stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Buckden, the cottage was very clean, well equipped and comfortable, the only thing that would be handy is a Rotary line in the garden. The village is very friendly, and the tea rooms are a must, the pub serves lovely food even though a bit pricey the staff are very helpful and friendly. We were very lucky with the weather and was able to do plenty of walks from the village. We would definitely stay here again and will look into booking again in the near future.
Glad you enjoyed your stay Keith. Sorry that the line was not installed, but the gardener must have taken it out to cut the grass, he didnt replace it, and we could not find the hole to but it back in. This has been rectified and the line is now in situ. Thanks for letting me know about this. You are welcome back anytime..
Perfect cottage,in a perfect location
Rowan Cottage is the perfect get away from it all cottage. In a lovely totally unspoilt Yorkshire Village,if the you want bright lights hustle and bustle then it's not for you. The cottage has wonderful views in all directions, and is perfectly equipped for all your needs, with a lovely large garden which isn't totally enclosed, which with some dogs could be an issue, ours soon learned not to go down the side of the cottage, hence only 4 stars instead of 5.,and a real sun trap of a patio. Perfect location for walks, with wonderful walks on your doorstep,we caught the Dales bus into Kettlewell, and walked back.Small village shop with basic supplies( we had a home delivery from Tesco on our arrival day),nearest main supermarket is inSkipton about half an hours drive away, two village tea rooms, although one has recently been sold, the pub the Buck Inn remains closed, but the George at Hubberholme is a half an hour pleasant riverside walk away.Oversll would definitely recommend Rowan cottage, and we are already considering a return visit.
Many thanks for your welcome feedback. We do have plans to install a gate to enclose the garden and will have this done for next year. We would love to welcome you back.
