Fun in the sun
Beautiful appointed home on the lake. Very comfortable accommodations, well stocked kitchen and lovely lakefront. Neighbors a bit close but very friendly.
Beautifully finished, impeccably clean home with wonderful lake views. Very well-furnished -- nice towels, kitchen equipment etc. We rented a pontoon boat and that was terrific -- the lake is gorgeous and huge. Grocery stores ten minutes away, but not a lot of dining out opportunities in Dover-Foxcroft.
Fancy vs. Essentials
We had an enjoyable stay for the last part. While the owners bragged about how fancy the rental was, (and seemed almost insulted when we called it a camp) we had to leave our event to run for toilet paper, and guard the bathroom doors for guests because there were no locks and one didn't latch at all. There was quite a bit of inside and outside work we weren't expecting. We also ran out of propane 5 minutes into our bbq. I would have been happy to have less marble and a pack of t-paper under one of the sinks. We also spent a lot of time cleaning,(dog bones, dog hair, cigarette wrappers under the furniture) putting cushions on outdoor furniture (some furniture had none), and repairing deck railing that was falling apart. This may be due to us renting in early part of the season (?), but regardless it ate up a lot of time for preparing our event. Thankfully the guests were understanding
We are disappointed and surprised with your review of our Sebec Lake House. This being our second year with this home have enjoyed wonderful reviews. Had you called me upon arrival as I requested I would have given you some insight and addressed your concerns to insure an enjoyable visit.
I initially emailed that our family on the Maine side joke with us often about the "camps" where I respond that "camps" don't have central heat and air conditioning, kitchen and bathroom amenities, huge brick fireplace, solid construction as ours is, vintage decor, fully furnished from crock pot to lobster pot. Sorry that you felt I was insulted, my humor I guess.
There are two more full propane tanks on the side of the house by the propane tanks that heat the Lake House.
There are full bags of toilet paper, paper towels, box tissue and body soap in the basement for use if needed. As you were the first of the summer guests, everything was stocked and ready for use.
The second layer of cushions on the interior iron couches are for the outdoor couch and chair set on the deck facing Sebec Lake. We don't leave the cushions outside should a strong wind or quick rain storm blow the cushions away.
There are no locks on the bathroom to prevent small children from locking themselves inside with the only option to remove the door from the frame to free them. In our home a closed door means the bathroom is in use.
The lake side deck was in the last weeks fully reconstructed from total winter damage, strong enough for a car to run over it, so impossible for me to believe it needed repairing.
Quite possible as you indicate, you were having an event, that you might have considered renting an event hall instead of a family home.
The sliding door screen was found to be damaged, I will determine the cost to repair or replace it hopefully in time for our next guest from your Security Deposit.
Great that you guests enjoyed the last part of your visit, hope that is what they will talk about and remember,
Fun on the Water
We rented this house for a 3-generation family reunion and to scatter the ashes of our parents in Sebec Lake. The house has lots of usable space and everything we needed to cook and otherwise entertain ourselves. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to swim, canoe, and paddle boat on the lake where we spent our childhoods. The owners checked in with us several times to make sure we had everything we needed and even took my sister and me for a ride up onto the big lake in their boat. A totally satisfying experience!
Susan and her family were wonderful guests at our Sebec Lake House. So nice for us to know that this family from many parts of the US came to spend quality time together for this special time.
Towards the end of their visit, we enjoyed a boat ride with the two sisters as they reminisced about their years as young girls on the Sebec. We even visited the "Castle" which is next to where their fathers own camp was located.
The Lake House was left in excellent condition and we would enjoy having them visit again.

Autumn lake home
Beautiful, well equipped home. Enjoyed the fog rolling off the lake in the morning and the call of the loons at night. Water in the lake was crystal clear.
Hey Nancy & Family,
We are so glad that you enjoyed our Lake House, the area and the wedding which was the reason for your visit. Thanks for taking such good care of our home.
We will look forward to having you visit again now that you know the benefits of being outside of the big cities. Weather the visit is warm and sunny or cool and Spring or Fall, even winter offers ice fishing and frozen lake sports for your family to experience.
