It was fine but dated
We stayed at this property for a week and found it fine for our needs. The owners were pretty responsive with getting maintenance people over, but it would serve them well to set expectations on things like the bees mating season as they were everywhere outside and it was hard to be out during the day. The property is very dated. Maybe it was more up to date when first rented, I don't know, but it seems like it hasn't had much attention lately. The light switches have labels that have worn off and you can no longer see any writing on them. Seems easy to fix so why wouldn't they? Especially since the lights are quirky with needing two different switches in two different parts of a room to both be in particular positions to operate certain fixtures. The outdoor tables are literally falling apart. We worried about getting charged for things that are almost already broken. There is a sign on the hot tub that says you will be charged $250 for a new hot tub cover if it is sat on and broken. I'm guessing they would be delighted if that happens and are hoping someone sits on it so they can charge that to get a new cover, because to replace the current cover with the same quality cover is probably $20. They should just say please don't sit on the cover as it will break. Just seems petty for something ancient and deteriorated. There is no outdoor dining table, which is too bad. It's a decent view and you can't eat outside. The firepit area is very sloped and it's hard to sit in the furniture without sliding uncomfortably. The whole house feels a little settled toward the downward slope. Kitchen utensils were plentiful but awful. The plastic mixing spoons literally bend if you try to use them. The upstairs gaming area is very cramped. The video game machine controls aren't receptive, the pool table is ancient and you can't make many shots with the sloped ceiling. The fireplace didn't work (needs a part I guess), would just have been good to know as several days were warm but several days were cold. The tv in the living room doesn't have the ability to watch netflix, hulu, etc. We also had wasps getting into the unit from the outside somewhere. Views are nice, but 180 vs. 360 if it matters. I feel bad about the less than stellar review but it's important to understand the condition. Maybe it's priced for the condition, I don't know, but if it's important to your choice you should be aware. On the upside, the Internet worked great, the beds were comfortable.
I'm glad our property met your needs and you ultimately enjoyed your stay! I don't feel the review was justified regarding our property. This is a beautiful cabin with breathtaking views. It is very well maintained and updated. This guest booked the property about 2 hours before their arrival to Pigeon Forge. They came from Chicago, IL. We accommodated their last-minute, week-long booking very quickly. They were very happy that we could accommodate them so quickly. After multiple texts and emails after their booking, I knew they had never really stayed in a cabin/chalet setting. before. After the first or second night, they texted to see when the maid was going to come each day because they were staying a week. The cabin clearly states that the cleaning is done prior to your arrival and after. I offered a cleaning service during their stay and they declined. This is a gorgeous cabin and is wood inside and out. We take a lot of pride in decorating our cabins very nicely. Everything is updated regularly. For instance, our living and dining room furniture is only 6 months old. The guest asked why we didn't have sheetrock walls and have them painted. I explained that the cabin is wood and I really don't feel they understood that. The light switches are really easy to work. They do have 2 light switches for the living area (one on each entry wall). It is actually very convenient to have 2 for such a large room and are really easy to work because it is just a light switch!
Nothing is falling apart on the porches. The rocking chairs are newly purchased also when we purchased the new sofa and table for the inside. The hot tub cover was replaced after their visit. The new one was delivered to my caretakers right before these guests came.
Bees "mating season" is a natural thing and I can not control nature. Nature is actually why you come to the mountains. Not sure why some flew inside, but my assumption is that they left the doors open because of the beautiful weather. The firepit area is awesome and has chairs to sit in around it. It is all blacktop where the chairs are, so not sure why y'all were sliding on them. It is not totally flat, because you're on a mountain, but compared to other yards we have a nice gradually sloped yard as you can see in our pictures. As far as the video game and pool table, my guests usually love them and the area. They are all in working order and very enjoyable. The fireplace had a part on order and with the situation of shipping items at the time, it was delayed. In March/April you should not really need a fireplace with temps in the 80's. We never advertised having a tv to stream Netflix etc. The cable has many channels to choose from and we have a DVD player to watch movies. I'm glad you enjoyed the internet and beds in your review.
To put it into a little better perspective, these guests, could not figure out how to turn on the bedroom TVs. My caretaker had to pass by the cabin to press the button for on and explain to them how to work the tv, while they looked for bees in the yard. I have never had a guest text me every day, several times a day. I love to help my guests anyway possible, but they were a little extreme. My many other reviews with 5 stars, really state how wonderful my cabin is!.
Blue Mountain Breeze
The cabin was perfect for my family. It was spacious, clean & had everything we needed. The views were spectacular! A very relaxing place both inside and outside. We will definitely rent this cabin again when we come back to the Smokies!
We were looking for a true Smokey Mountain vacation and this log house really delivered. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The games gave the kids plenty to do during the adults down time. The view was awesome and it was a quick drive to Pigeon Forge. We would love to stay there again if we return for another vacation.
We loved it. We will definitely go back.
We were looking for quick get away and this cabin was perfect. Close to skiing for the teenagers in our group and also lots of activities for the little ones. Cabin was clean, beds comfortable, hot tub and game room fun for all. Definitely would stay there again!
