Beautiful property/house, but no wifi/data
It was a very nice house and property with a beautiful view right on the river. The rooms and house were clean. The property itself was great. Really feels like you're in the wilderness with stargazing at night.
There were hidden fees and misleading things. There was a 3K security deposit (which you can get $79 insurance for - extra fee) in addition to a 1.5K deposit which you can't get insurance for. Then the owner sent an email where you have to keep the place clean b/c the cleaning fee is for you not for the next person!? The final price will be included on VRBO b/f checkout (so as long as you double check you'll be fine), but not cool they way the owner did it (and VRBO shouldn't allow that and should calculate nightly price with all that included).
There was some extra $350 fee for having one extra person (why should they care?), but there wasn't even enough blankets, toilet paper, garbage bags, soap, etc. To be fair to the owner, after we told them there wasn't enough blankets and washing machine issues, they brought more blankets and was did laundry for us daily (and delivered them folded). But a number of family members slept without blankets the first night. Kinda feel like we should get a refund for that night or for the extra person fee. I honestly think the owners want to make it good, but don't realize/know how to; like why would they not spend the $20 to make sure the bathrooms had hand/shower soap and toilet paper. We bought them and it wasn't the biggest deal, but just really annoying and not a good way to host (I wouldn't be surprised if they have them next time after this post).
Random, but the staircase doesn't have a banister. It looks ok, but pay attention to that depending on the age of your kids. And it's well water which has funny smell but is healthy.
There was no wifi (which to be fair it didn't say there was on the site), but then the owner sent email letting us know there's no wifi and that some major carriers have great reception. We had Verizon and AT&T and got nothing. The owner was being intentionally misleading. Depending on what you want from trip, that might be fine with you, but we had family members who weren't planning on leaving the house and we wouldn't have booked had we known. If they're going to host, they should spend the $50-100/mon for satellite internet.
Overall the place is very nice and owners who want to give good experience, but don't know how to give it so well.

Additional security fees are not from our end but Homeaways / VRBO we do not set those and have no control over it. The cleaning fee is a separate charge then the Homeaway security fee.
Having No WiFi was mentioned before they booked the home and ended up booking anyway. I have ATnT service and get full high speed service. The home is in the back woods of the country no wires are ran from the utility companies and can’t obtain reasonable WiFi service. Must local Restaurants have free access.
The dryer broke with the prior guests and has been fixed. We gave a curtesy service of doing their laundry every night for the inconvenience.
Also there was a maximum of 6 people who were supposed to be staying at the house with enough blankets and towels. These guests had over 10 individuals which included the kids we were not told about. We provide all the basic necessities and do not supply food or body/ hair soup. Guests would obtain they own toiletries as normally would.
