Perfect spot for a family trip
For all of the reasons why renting a home is better than a hotel, this spot provided answers to them. My husband said it’s my best pick yet and we’ve rented a lot of places on VRBO.
Our family of four was able to stretch out, hang out and keep up with daily routines thanks to these accommodations. The neighborhood was quiet and perfectly located for our activities between the Mall and Georgetown. Walk two block in one direction and you’ve got a CVS and a natural foods grocery to set you up for your stay, and two blocks in the other direction takes you to a great neighborhood eatery. It was a quick walk down to Dupont Circle for even more dining options and the metro. Limes can still be found around and Ubers pull up within minutes so overall this neighborhood can’t be beat!
The unit has old DC charm and is quaint yet modern, comfortable and well appointed. I recommend a stay!
Great family trip
The apartment is in a great location, and the on-line pictures were accurate. There were some last-minute changes to the process for unlocking the front door, but the owner communicated clear instructions to us so we didn't have any problems. My 2 young kids enjoyed the nearby playground (on S St and 23) and it was great having so many restaurant options nearby, We visited the Mall area every day (about 30 min walk, or 10 dollar Uber ride). I highly recommend this place!
My husband, son and I stayed in this property in September 2019. It is a very large property, that is located near DuPont Circle metro. The property is incredibly comfortable, ranging from the beds to the sofa to watch tv. There is the full range of tv channels too. The property is very clean. I did note that in previous reviews that a comment was made about marks around the bathroom near the kitchen. I tried cleaning these and can confirm that they are stains. Access to the property is via a predetermined code on a key pad - both for the main door and apartment. These worked like a charm; the only time it did not was at night because I entered the code incorrectly due to poor lighting and my poor eyesight. As soon as I used the torch light on my phone, voila, access achieved. So the person who made a review about the code is rather incorrect. Cliff has been awesome to work with; providing a welcome email as soon as we arrived to ensure everything was in order. We had a problem with the cistern in the master toilet. I responded to the email and also called him, and within hours, the matter was resolved. There are a few maintenance issues that need attention which actually requires feedback from users to rectify as Cliff would have no idea. It is absolutely apparent that many users of the property are rough and do not look after it. This meant that we had to report the damages upon arrival. I find this very selfish and irresponsible behaviour. We loved this property because of the space, comfort, access to the range of services in a wonderfully vibrant and safe community, and walking distance to Du Pont Circle metro. My only added suggestion is a little booklet of where supermarkets or as part of the email. We would definitely return. Cliff, thank you so much and being so responsive to ensuring we had an awesome time in DC.
Great location, comfortable flat
The location of the property is excellent and the unit was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable for our group of two couples. There is limited shelf space in bathrooms for towels and toiletries, but otherwise all was very good. We would definitely return again.
We enjoyed our stay here. The flat was clean and easily accessible to everything. We would definitely come back.
Locked out of Unit, because of faulty door, Owner did not respond...for 3 days!
WARNING due to the keyless nature of the unit, you may be locked out!
We came back to the flat from a function at 1:00 a.m. and the outside door would not work. There were 3 of us who each tried the code multiple times and the door simply would not open.
I attempted to get in touch with the manager by calling three times. NO RESPONSE AT ALL during our stay.
For all he knew we never were able to get in the unit. We were fortunate that the upstairs tenant eventually turned up and explained that there is a bypass that needed to be entered and then the code would work.
THIS INFORMATION WAS NEVER RELAYED TO US BY THE OWNER.
The following day I emailed the owner twice more asking for a key or some other way of getting in and out, because the door was not reliable. His voice mailbox was FULL and he did not respond to my emails.
I finally did receive an email from him 3pm the day after we left, saying he was “sorry” we had trouble with the door, and asked that I call him. So, I did call him to discuss this before writing a negative review. In all honesty I thought he must have had some sort of personal emergency, that would have excused this, So when I did call the number provided Paul answered and said he worked with Cliff, I asked if he was familiar with my rental and he said (and I quote)
“You are the person that kept calling at 3 am" I said yes, it was actually 1am but... I was locked out because the door code they provided did not work, he responded I "was (expletive) crazy to have the nerve to call him in the middle of the night..” And that I had some nerve calling him now. I was confused, why was he so upset... I his renter could not access the building because of a faulty door, he never even answered the call..why was he so angry…so. I thought maybe I had dialed the wrong number,
NOPE! This was the right guy. My concern for future renters is the volatility of my conversation with him. His aggressive tone on the telephone made me feel very unsafe.
He was incensed that I would have the nerve to call him when I was locked out of the building! I was calm, and he immediately attacked me verbally. This is not a person I would ever, trust or want to have anything to do with.
YOU CANNOT COUNT ON THE OWNER AT ALL!
?!? never happened. Not sure what is wrong with this guest.
