Restful and Relaxing!
I believe my teenage son was more awestruck than I was with this cabin. The rustic nature inside and out were a dream to him. If he could have a log cabin, this was it! I did not have to worry about conveniences as they were supplied. We arrived, settled, and had the most amazing rest. We had intentions of visiting Au Sable Chasm, but the atmosphere of the cabin was so warm and welcoming, we truly dragged our feet having to leave for good. The most picturesque view was the intersection of 73 and Hulls Falls Road! A majestic view of the mountains that surround the area, impossible to put on a postcard. My son cannot wait to return! Thank you!
Charming rustic cabin with great amenities
We only had a short stay of 2 nights last weekend, but we really enjoyed the cabin. Perfect for the 4 of us and plenty of living room seating with large futon and another full sized couch. Loved using the fireplace and nice to have a lot of wood available and sheltered outside the shed. Also nice touch with the stocked Kuerig unit in the kitchen.
And dog friendly! Our little Boston Terrier relaxed by the fire.
Very quiet off the main roads and nice to hear the Ausable River nearby. Also several great restaurant choices minutes away.
We look forward to returning again!
My boyfriend and I had a great time in this cute little cabin! We were mainly there to experience Lake Placid which was about 20min away. The town of Keene itself is SO CUTE and I wish we had more time to venture out around town also. Beds were comfy, everything is there for you to cook, and they even had Netflix on their flatscreen for late night movies! We made a fire every night with the complimentery wood and they even provided fire starters as well. My only complaint was the driveway/ walkway being completely ice covered when we arrived and made it hard to drag bags in an out of the house. The audible river is consequently frozen over in the middle February, but it looks like it could be a great spot for fishing. Bathroom was extremely small but okay for two people sharing. Overall it was a nice little getaway and we hope to return again in warmer weather:)
Cozy warm cabin in convenient location
A friend and I were looking for a true Adirondack style place for a weekend of Winter hiking. This being only the second time in the area, we were very happy to have found this gem. It felt just off the beaten path enough yet super accessible to our areas of interest and any supplies or food needed could be found in Keene or Keene Valley. The cabin is well thought out and had everything we needed. Was surprised to find the river view was across the street from the front yard, but it is a very cool vantage point and photograph worthy. As others had mentioned, we found the road was hardly traveled, at least in Winter. We were hit with a snow storm our first night there and by morning our tracks were the only ones out as far as the cabin. There was a drainage issue at the kitchen door that created an icy stretch so watch that if visiting this Winter. Overall, we were very happy with the cabin and would highly recommend it. Thanks again to the owner. By the way, we hiked Cascade and Hurricane Mountains that weekend and recommend those as well. A great store, The Mountaineer, in nearby Keene Valley, had the hiking items we needed as well as local knowledge. Enjoy!
We enjoyed the cabin and especially the romantic fireplace. Clean and well equipped in beautiful surroundings, with the sound of the Ausable in the background. Plenty of privacy. Would love to come back.
