So comfortable and a great place to stay.
Thanks, Amanda, for your stay! And if you brought the Duck women's basketball team their great luck and prowess in defeating the U.S. Women's National team, please come see us anytime, but especially when the Ducks have another important game! --Ellen
Great place in Eugene.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay here. Upon arrival we were met by Ellen at the time of our choice and showed around the property and given a phone number tocontact her if we had any problems. We completely enjoyed our stay at this location and would use it again. There was a day that an auto accident took out the power while we were out with our son Ellen called us to inform us of the outage. She offered to help us if we needed it and told us where emergency supplies were located. Fortunately we did not need them and power was restored around midnight.
Thanks for the hospitality.
Nifty home at a thrifty price
We highly enjoy this neighborhood and location of town, so we were happy to find a home that put us in this spot.
Check in was different than any offer place we have stayed, but that was explained in the property information before renting this home, so it wasn't a surprise to have to meet the owner. Ellen was also very easy to communicate with.
The home is listed as pet friendly, but I couldn't help feel a little on edge about having even well behaved dogs there because of the fact that it was stated that one of the staff members was allergic to dogs and could smell if a dog licked the floor, and we were expected to wipe it up. Even though our dogs are not allowed on furniture, I still felt the need to use the couch covers for the fact that fur flies and I was nervous about possibly having my deposit deducted in the event that it was assumed that my pets were on the furniture without the covers. We were also expected to sweep and vacuum if we had a dog that sheds. The only critique I would give is: if the house is being cleaned and sanitized in between guests, licked floors and some fur should not be a problem in a "Dog Friendly" rental. Also if dogs are approved, quality slip covers for furniture would benefit, as the covers provided do not stay put even when a human sits on it.
Other than feeling like it was not 100% dog friendly. Our stay deserved an overall 4stars. The house had what we needed for the length of our stay. The back yard was a wonderful spot and size to let our dogs stretch out. It is a great location, close to many amenities. The Nifty Thrifty suites its name and we are grateful for our stay.
Thanks Desi for your comments! I’m glad you love the house’s location and many of the things about it. As you may know, many property owners are unwilling to take dogs and this is particularly true if taking dogs causes non-pet-owning guests to shy away from booking. Rarely if ever have I had someone tell me that my dog rules were anything but typical. I provided mine to you at the time of booking, as I do anytime a pet is on the guest list, and I invited you to comment on any requirements that were of concern. I wish you had let me know that you objected to some of the rules. But, speaking as the person with allergies and also the person who has to at times chase down the source of a dog odor in the several hours prior to a new guest’s arrival, I thank you for the steps you took to save me some sneezes and help me be ready for my next guests —whether they love and live with dogs or not! —Ellen
This was a great house for my husband and I to stay in while visiting our son and his family. Very convenient location. Close to lots of restaurants and activities. Albertsons about a mile away. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were even able to host a dinner at the house.. The owners are super nice and responsive. So much better than a hotel !
So happy, Barb, that you enjoyed Nifty Thrifty! I always love hearing that the house has become the stage for a gathering of family or friends. It's really one of the most satisfying things about operating a vacation rental. I do hope you'll stay again sometime soon -- and when you do, try the Market of Choice for a two-block walk to a great grocery store, one that many prefer to the bigger chains! --Ellen
Great Stay at a Great Place
Nice and cozy with great access to many places. Check in was easy and the stay was wonderful!
Thanks, Nick! Hoping you’ll visit again sometime! —Ellen
Cozy and warm
This was just what I hoped for. Ellen entrusted a lovely neighbor to welcome us at our arrival. After a brief tour of the house, we were left to settle in and get comfortable. The house was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. It is ideally located close to restaurants and an easy drive to Oregon State University. During our short stay, we even had time to enjoy a performance by the Oregon Contemporary Theatre. I would definitely return to stay longer.
I’m so glad your trip capped off the way you had hoped! Come again sometime, because I’d love to meet you! —Ellen
