Hidden fees for cheap motel quality with an unusable hot tub
When booking this cabin, we were slapped with fees that essentially doubled the cost of our two day rental. This cabin was picked for it's initial cost and the fact that it had a hot tub. Despite being presented with the fees, we opted to go with it anyway, hoping that the place would be nice and we would have a nice time soaking in the hot tub. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were met with issues left and right. The first was the parking situation. We came with three cars, thinking that this would be alright as we could put one in the garage and park two on the driveway. Even though the guide in the home said that this was alright, the management company made it very clear that if we were to have more than two cars present, we would be slapped with a $2000 fine. To mitigate this, we were instructed to park our third car at a nearby casino, causing issues with timing and giving us unneeded stress. The cabin claims to house eight people, which is what we anticipated on. However, the pull out couch was disgusting looking and we opted to sleep on the couches instead. There did not seem to be sheets present for it, either. The entire quality of the cabin was extremely questionable. The showers leaked and got water all over the floor. The master bedroom's shower had a jury-rigged curtain on it which was strange, but made sense once we saw the entire shower door sitting in the closet - presumably broken and never truly repaired by the management company. The kitchen facilities were acceptable, but nothing special either. The worst part of this experience for our group, however, was the hot tub. Upon inspecting the hot tub, we realized it was off, so we flipped the breakers on the exterior of the house to turn it on and begin heating it. Several hours later, we went to check on it and it had made no progress in it's heating. We then looked up the instruction manual for the model of the hot tub, and found it can take up to 24 hours to preheat. Sad, considering we would be gone in that time. It would have been nice for the management company to make the only amenity worth advertising usable for guests. Furthermore, the process of checking in to the property was questionable. One of our members arrived at the offices, a 15 min drive from the property, to check in. Thankfully, a staff member was there to assist us, because the key was missing from the pickup lockbox - we would have been locked out otherwise. Overall very disappointing.
