Quiet and Peacefull
Great location although not directly on lake it was within sight.Beautifull peacefull location.
Finch camp is such a special place! It was our first time visiting and it was absolutely perfect! The house had everything we needed and more! It was a very hot weekend when we were there, the fans and open windows cooled us down at night and the beautiful lake kept us cool all day! We kayaked, watched the fish swim, and swam all day. The location is wonderful- quiet and peaceful, a 30 second walk to the water, a short drive to the general store. Our kids loved pumping water, we loved sitting in the porch listening to the loons at night. Would definitely stay again!
A very peaceful escape
The Finch camp is a wonderfully cozy, peaceful spot nestled in the woods with just a few short steps to the gorgeous Lake Hebron. The camp had everything we needed for a relaxing week...kayaks, corn hole, board games, etc. The house is spacious and the huge living room just begs you to relax. The beds and couches were much more comfortable than most cottages we've stayed in and we honestly just really enjoyed lounging around reading, drawing and playing games. My 16 year old loved playing the guitar that was there! If you're looking for a break from the crazy pace of life, this is the place to go!
I should add that Dave was great with communicating with us. He was very thorough with instructions/information, super helpful, and always quick to reply to any questions we had. He made the whole rental process very easy.
My only caveat about this place is that it is really "out" there! I wish that I had realized ahead of time that the closest good grocery store was a Shaw's in the Dover/Foxcraft area, about a 25 minute drive from the camp. There was another grocery store closer to the house, but their selection was really poor, especially the produce. So, if you go, just bring as much food with you as you can and/or get the directions to the Shaw's before you go (maybe even stop there on your way in).
Having said that, the little general store, which is a 3 minute drive from the camp, is wonderful! They don't have everything you'll need but they do have an awful lot and the people are very friendly. They have high quality sandwiches, bakery items and even a small selection of some good fruits and veggies. When you walk in and see those old fashioned candy sticks you'll know you've found a gem of a place!
South Georgia goes to Maine
We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was great. Our boys loved pumping water, building fires, making s’mores, and kayaking. The people in town were very friendly and helpful. We cooked a big breakfast every morning with the food we bought from the general store. The weather was beautiful and a nice change from 100 degrees. The only thing we missed was a washer and dryer.
This rustic cabin is beautiful! It was all I hoped it would be. It was a quiet vacation without any interruptions. The fall foliage, crisp air and scenic lake were just mesmerizing! The cabin is rustic: creaky floors, old time screen doors and vintage furnishing reminded me of childhood in my grandfather’s cabin. We LOVED it! We had beautiful canoe trips around the lake listening to the majestic loon call. The fireplace set the ambiance for quiet evenings with the family. I cannot say enough about this cabin which harkens to the days of old and simpler times.
It was a quick trip to Moosehead lake and the town of Greenville where there are plenty of tourist attractions to be had. Traveling north is the remote backwoods country with beautiful views and abounding nature. There is a memorial to a B-52 crash site which is also worth the trip. Hiking along the Appalachian Trial is just around the corner and offers great chances to see wildlife.
David was an absolute pleasure to rent from. He is very accommodating and was quick to respond to our questions. We will certainly be staying here again!
Thanks Michael. Fall is definitely a special time to visit Monson and the Moosehead Lake region. I'm glad you liked our camp and had a nice visit. Dave F.
Charming Cabin in a Quaint Little Corner of Maine
We, thoroughly, enjoyed our stay at your cabin. It had an old charm, but included everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were plenty spacious. We enjoyed lots of family time at the kitchen table, eating and playing games. As well, we enjoyed family time on the farmers porch, which also gave us a pretty view of the lake. The sitting area beside the lake, located across the camp road, adjacent to the cabin, was peaceful. The lake is beautiful, and provided us with some beautiful sunsets. Our stay was totally enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your little treasure.
Thank you LouAnn. We're glad you enjoyed your stay! - Dave
