Point Comfort is a lovely lodge for any group. It was very clean & has an amazing lake view!
Point Comfort has plenty of rooms & bathrooms to accommodate families & get togethers. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare home cooked meals. The beds are comfortable, excellent dining table & living room with games/activities. The lake view is gorgeous and it is fun to take the paddle boats out on the water. It was a fantastic stay!
Beautiful historic building, Bill and Dave have done an incredible job restoring it. All was in order, tidy, clean, friendly, comfortable, peaceful and gorgeous setting/view. Excellent place for a reunion with 7 unique bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, something to suit everyone and big beautiful common space. We had a great time and even better memories. Thanks.
Nice but not as expected
We rented the lodge for a 3 generation family reunion with guests ranging fro 11 to 70s.
The good: Beautifully restored/maintained and well provisioned. Plenty of bed/bath linens. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for a large group - pots, pans, baking dishes, pizza sheets, utensils and dinnerware. Two refrigerators gave plenty of space to store food and the extra large coffee maker was a hit too. The location on the lake provides a nice view and there are several outdoor activities on the grounds for kids (or kids at heart) like basketball, disc golf and tether ball. One of the paddle boats was working and nice for puttering around off of the dock. Lots of bird watching - eagles, hawks, pelicans and geese all in the yard and around the dock. Decorated with a mix of antiques and more comfy contemporary pieces so it felt like going to grandma's.
The not so good: No privacy - I knew from the website that there were cabins in the same area. I did not understand them to share the same drive way and dock. The cabins are located right beside the lodge with the cabin windows easily viewing into the lodge kitchen. There was a large fishing party renting both cabins while we were there and between their pick-ups and boat trailers, parking was a challenge for us. I found this annoying given that the cost of the cabins was a fraction of the lodge yet we didn't have space to park. The cabin renters cross back forth through the lodge yard to get to the shared dock, which wasn't a huge issue given that these folks were polite, but dependent upon the renters it could be intrusive. I was also a bit surprised when we were preparing dinner and an unknown man walked into the kitchen via a side door. It turned out to be the caretaker, but given that we were there, a knock would have been appropriate. One of the paddle boats was out of commission due to a broken rudder.
I'd recommend this if you have a group large enough to warrant renting the cabins too, but if you are looking for your own space this might not be right for you.
"Point Comfort" is the perfect name for this lodge.
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here with family and a few close friends. As other reviewers mentioned, we couldn't have been happier or more comfortable during our stay. This was the prefect place to celebrate!
The lodge and the cabins were immaculate, warm and so welcoming when my husband and I arrived. As our guests arrived, it was a treat to give them tours and a little history about this grand old historic lodge. What a gem! We biked, hiked, kayaked, birded, played music and enjoyed each others company all weekend long. Everyone agreed that the amazing historical ambiance of the lodge contributed another dimension to the weekend that made our time there even more special.
Big thanks to Bill and Dave for making all the efforts over the years to restore this beauty with such craftsmanship and attention to detail. We thoroughly enjoyed having Dave share some of the inside stories of the renovation and history. Bravo!! We will return another time to enjoy it again. I encourage you to treat yourself to this place too.
Perfect setting for a getaway
Can't ask for a better place than this one. It was perfect for our group. Amazing views of the lake. House is equipped with full kitchen with plenty of utensils. Kids had lots of fun with board games and outside settings
