Wonderfull Fall Getaway
We stayed at Canoodlin main cottage during Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend, in mid October. We are from Halifax and always meet in Maine with friends from Boston for Thanksgiving. We had an amazing stay at the main camp. The cottage was everything we expected and more. A great big and open kitchen, dining and living area - great for big meals, puzzles, games and just hanging out. The bedrooms were very cozy as well. The surroundings were really beautiful, especially in October with fall colours. We were able to do some fishing as well on the lake. I highly recommend Canoudlin for those looking for a relaxed weekend getaway. The only (slight) challenge is that the nearest grocery store is about 20-25 minutes away in Dover Foxcroft, so you need to plan accordingly. We also recommend a day trip to Lilly Bay State park on Moosehead Lake - about 1 1/2 hour drive but well worth it!
End of summer get away
Everything about it was beautiful! Would absolutely stay here again. Hope to reserve a week next summer!
Incredible waterfront, views, and space for family
We spent the entire weekend here with 3 families and absolutely loved it! Our father and his brothers grew up in the area and used to swim off this historic point, so it was a memorable experience. Plenty of space for sleeping, relaxing, outdoor activities. We setup a cornhole set by the firepit for some added fun. Jumped off the dock for swimming, and the kids explored the endless boulders and rocks along the water. Hope to come back again soon!
A week in paradise
We enjoyed a spectacular week with family and friends at Canoodlin. Couldn’t have asked for better weather - warm days, cool nights, just a bit of rain on our final morning - and the Camp is comfortable and well appointed with dishes and towels and games and even a foosball table. Norm and Terri were lovely hosts, too, providing suggestions for activities in the area (though we really didn’t want to leave the property much). The two houses are slightly rustic yet charming and impeccably clean, and the beds were comfy. We loved all having our own spaces along with some beautiful common spaces; the porch overlooking the western side of the lake made for some spectacular sunset suppers together. Speaking of sunsets...holy cow, what a gorgeous event sunset is every night! And a zillion stars overhead on clear nights - breathtaking. My kids enjoys hours and hours of swimming off the dock (wearing lifevests because the water is crazy-deep) and I enjoyed kayaking and simply floating in a tube with a drink in my hand. We had s’mores and silly stories by the fire pit more than once. And I recommend seafood at the little eatery at Bear Point Marina down the road and ice cream at Butterfields in Dover-Foxcroft. I highly recommend spending some time at Canoodlin. I came home feeling relaxed and energized - and I can’t wait to visit again someday. Thanks, Norm & Terri!
