Fantastic weekend getaway!
Spent a beautiful weekend at Moose Run with family (6 adults). Beautiful area, friendly neighbors and quiet tranquility. Sitting on the deck having our coffee while gazing on Dodge Pond was heaven! My brother and Sister in law loved playing with the dogs and going for walks at sunset.
We chose Moose run not only for the area but because of the difficulty in finding a HomeAway that was amenable for older adults, not just families with children. (Finding a place with 3 king/queen Sized beds is harder than we thought!)
Moose Run also met all our needs and then some! I have medical issues and was glad to find out there were handrails going up to second floor bedrooms. May not seem like a big deal, but it was to me!!
One thing I advise with ANY HomeAway is to not assume basic supplies are available. We usually bring garbage bags, dish soap, laundry soap, toilet paper, personal supplies, etc. Not always necessary but it helps if something is missed and you can bring your items home if you didn’t need them!
Moose Run is a definite favorite and will be staying here again in the future! Thank you for everything!
What a RELAXING spot!!!
The house was great, everyone had they're own space, 2 separate wings made the kids noise level completely tolerable. Beds everywhere yet it didn't feel overcrowded. every amenity we needed in the kitchen, bath... plenty of towels, linens, pillows... Town of Littleton was about 15 mins away....Great little Town. Pond was awesome, water was clean and refreshing, fishing was great, no monsters caught but others on the pond caught 10 lb Northern Pike, 5-7 lb Bass...etc. My ONLY criticism would be the WIFI wasn't good....and you have to drive a mile down the road for cell service....which didn't bother me, but there is a phone that could be used for out of state calling with a calling card...The neighbors were so nice. their dogs were fine, one was very old and one just chased his ball whenever he was out...they all followed their dogs with shovels...no clean up issues at all. If you like quiet, serenity, and you have a big Family this is your place! My son loved canoeing...Could use a bigger dock but worked just fine. Thanks for a fine vacation. -Maginnis Family
Great quiet pond. Relaxing week of swimming, campfires and board games- Littleton and Lincoln nearby when you are looking for activity.
We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again
Great pond but hope you like dogs
So we arrived and to our surprise the neighbors were right on top of us. They were good people so that worked out fine. One problem we did have was the many dogs that run free in the neighborhood. Our whole family loves dogs and the first day we were so happy to have them. But day 2-7 were s different story. Everyone kept stepping in poo. Kids adults it didn't matter. And forget going to pond at night barefoot. There is also the sweetest lab that would constantly be in and out of the house thru the screen door. Fine but the basketball size rumor the dog has constantly leaks blood and puss and was all over the deck, kitchen, and garage. Prob 2 was the wifi. Day one barely worked. After that never worked again owner said there were lines down but phone still worked(internet is dsl) and neighbor had internet so who knows. But there is no cell coverage at all. I would say this is not a bad thing but we had people that had to do some work on their laptops and could not. And never did we see a repair man. Even with all that said the house easily held all 14 of us with room to spare. If I would recommend something to owner it would be a second fridge. If a house can hold that many people they at some point need to eat and drink. Think we spent upwards of $70 on ice. And constant trips to the store about 18 min away for ice every day. We are motorcycle riders and although roads in nh are amazing there is a 3.5 mile dirt road to get to property. Once again not a big deal just wish we knew that from the listing. It may seem like I'm complaining but overall the house and pond were great and we loved our family vacation. The beds were all very comfortable and bathrooms each had their own water heater so no one complained of no hot water. Dont know if we will stay again mostly because of the location and nothing to do with the house. We have been going to white mountains for 10 years so we have our "spots" we like and this house was a little too far out for us. Ps Clide and Cooper are great dogs just wish their owners would pick up after them. I have to do that at home didn't like doing it every day on vacation.
I apologize that your vacation was not as you had imagined. Thank you for letting us know about the dogs. My neighbors usually keep them contained unless the guests are comfortable with them around but after this experience, we can assure you and future guests this situation will not happen again.
There are 2 ways to enter the property from Littleton. One is Hurd Hill which is a dirt road and the other is Lyman Rd which is paved. Both are the same distance to Littleton.
The internet tends to run slowly, especially when several people are using it. Thanks again for your feedback and I shall be sure to post it as It is always most helpful.
In the future, if you do return, please let us know as a situation occurs so we may rectify it ASAP. Our goal is to provide our guests with the vacation they are expecting and much more.
Comfortable and quiet
We had a great vacation at the Moose House. There were ten of us and the house provided more than enough room for us not to feel cramped. Carol was easy to contact and answered questions quickly. The neighbors were also very friendly and helpful.
The grandchildren took full enjoyment of the pond for swimming and fishing, the oldest taking the canoe out to fish in peace and quiet. The house offered numerous games, puzzles and DVDs, and a library of books to read.
Although we were “out in the boonies”, we found Polly’s Pancake Parlor and the Lisbon Pizza for great food. And couldn’t forget Chutters Candy Store in Littleton, the longest candy counter on the country!
Susan and family were great guest and hope they return
