Rustic in every sense of the word
I hate to leave bad reviews, but my experience was totally different than those who have left recent reviews.
This property has potentially deadly safety issues, and is in desperate need of maintenance to be suitable for rental.
Safety first - the 12' high deck is at risk of collapse. We had 6 adults on it and had to get off it bc every time someone walked across it, it shook. The railings lean by INCHES, there are nails popping out, wood is curling up, wood is rotting, and the floor joists are pulling away from the support pieces. This is not a complaint. It is a fact and a dangerous safety hazard.
There were 3 gas containers, a kerosone container, and numerous 5-gallon buckets of paint piled up on the deck! Can you imagine that fire safety hazard!?
The dilapidated wooden front step to the house is angled down (not up), and the front porch rail, like the rest of the rails, would snap off if leaned on.
There were two hoses, one attached to the house, laying on the ground in a pile, blocking the lower sliding glass door.
Electrical cords were EVERYWHERE in the house. We even had two of them literally hanging down the front of the dresser in one bedroom. It didn't matter, because the dresser wobbled so much when opening the drawers we couldn't even use it.
The house is just in bad shape. The front door has pieces of it missing. The screen door on one of the sliding doors has no upper track, so you have to manually carry it side to side every time you want to use the door. The lower level doors could be pushed right open by an intruder. A refrigerator shelf is broken. The cookware is a collection of random junk pieces. Dishes were dirty. Rugs are torn. The spiral stairs have spindles missing and sag when stepped on. The toilets are jammed into spots that are too narrow for toilets, and are not properly affixed to the floor so when you sit on the toilet, they wobble side to side. The bedding is simply gross. Our bed had no mattress pad, but it did have a torn up plastic cover for the mattress so every time you moved, you heard and felt the crinkling. Bedroom closets were piled with random things like broken mirrors, old brooms, boxes, so you didn't even want to put your clothes in them. The shade on the boating dock is torn into tatters. The wood 4x4 steps which are used to get to the water and the lower portion of the house are rotting in many places. Seat cushions on the dock and the beach are filthy.
The deck is not at risk of collapse. It does need some maintenance and we've already spoken with contractors about getting started on those repairs. Should be completed soon. They are not on the deck, they are on the bottom concrete porch. The gas cans are there - empty - for putting fuel in the pontoon boat. The 2 paint buckets are from the recent repainting on of the 1100 sq. ft. double slip dock and have been removed. There is no "kerosone" container. The front step is in good structural shape and is not a hazard. We are replacing the railing along with the other repairs on the rear deck. Feel free to move a hose if it is in your way. Most folks find it helpful to have a couple of long hoses around a lake house to be used as needed. The home is a "rustic cabin" as such plugs are not always exactly where you need them. The cords you were referring to are not extension cords and were easily put behind the dresser. The dresser does need to be replaced and we have gotten a new one. You failed to engage the push down/up locks on the lower levels doors which led to the ability to push them open. The dishes were not dirty as they were checked by both the cleaner and my property manager prior to your visit. They are a compilation of many types of dishes including some rustic pieces. Many of the pans/pots were just purchased at the beginning of the summer. The spiral staircase is missing one, five centimeter dowel that does not cause a safety issue but is being replaced. I'm 250 pounds and have no issue with going up and down the staircase. Toilets are tight, again a "rustic cabin" not a normal home. The bedding is extremely clean. We change it up after every visit and have 3 sets of sheets we rotate to make sure everything is in perfect shape. The mattress pad for the bed you slept in was missing, not sure why that was but it has been replaced. No boxes in the closet, there are cleaning supplies as that is the only real closet we have in the "rustic cabin". There is also a vacuum cleaner, broom and spider web tool. The mirror has a crack at the bottom, but not broken and most folks find it useful when getting dressed. Cushions on the $200/per chair lounge chairs on the beach are on a beach (we only have them on a couple of chairs as they are not necessary - just an extra), not in the house. We expect most folks to put a towel over them or to just use the chairs with a towel as they are outside on a beach. Remember, it's a "rustic cabin".
The deck has been repaired and the paint cans as well as the empty gas jugs are no longer on the porch below. The gas grill has been moved to the porch below the deck. The dock has been worked on and repainted.
A great location for extending game day into a lake weekend!
Great location. Great weekend.
It was a very good location and very good lot. We really liked the cove, the dock (and deep water), the house’s location on the northern half of the lake, the sandy beach, the porch, the view, and the rustic feel of the house.
Great Lake House
Had a blast. Awesome house. Awesome location.
Convenient location and plenty of room. Home was fantastic!! Look forward to coming back next year.
