Amazing time!!
Already looking forward to my next trip to Mexico and staying with Fernando. Condo has all the amenities you want, it was clean, and everyone was very helpful. I recommend getting a gold cart.
sayulita visit
Our stay in Fernando's condo was excellent. Fernando is outstanding at responding to request or answering questions. The air conditioning units in the condo were key and worked well. this was critical as my daughter did get sick and spend a fair bit of the time hanging out in the condo. The hammock on the deck of the master bedroom was incredible comfortable to nap in! We had some issues with one of the toilets but Fernando was very up front in explaining what was going on and parts were on order, so unfortunately we could not use that bathroom. He had plenty of water for us and when we ran out, he quickly had some more water brought to the room for a reasonable rate. The condo was clean and well maintained, minimal to no signs of bugs. Lupita meet us to let us in at the beginning and end of our stay, unfortunately her English was not great and my Spanish was not very good, but we were able to communicate well enough. All the workers around the complex were super friendly. The garage is a very safe place for parking the car. If you do rent a car, make sure it has high clearance as the roads in Sayulita are rather rough (partly due to current construction) and it would have been nice to be able explore more. If you aren't going to explore, take a shuttle to Sayulita and rent a golf cart for the town during your visit. The walk to town is simple and very pleasant. Yes, you do have to climb many steps to get to the condo, but easily done! We felt very safe at the complex. My husband did explore north of the condo and ran into a bit of a situation that made him feel unsafe but maybe if he would have been traveling with someone it would not have happen, just keep your valuables in your pocket, not in a bag or back pack! The beach is awesome, the surf varied and we enjoyed surfing every day. The town was very quaint and fun to walk around. Some awesome coffee shops and the pizza place just down the road is wonderful to bringing back to the condo for dinner. I would definitely work with Fernando again and rent from him!
Thanks Khristy,
Hope to see you soon down in Sayulita some time.
Best regards
Worst rental experience
We booked this condo for 6 weeks on the assumption it was on the 2nd floor. What the description didn't include was that it was the 4th building up, which made it 8 floors of steps and no elevator. It required planning out your day in advance to avoid too many trips up the steps. We had elderly guests and had to rent another hotel for them, since it would be impossible for them to do the steps. Housekeeping was marginal at best. There were moldy coffee grounds in the pot when we tried to use it. The glass table on the deck was seldom cleaned. Housekeepers would use our washing machine for other guests, meaning it wasn't always available when we needed to use it. In 6 weeks, we never saw any staff members in the office and we had to try to find someone on the grounds to assist with bags. The final insult was having the purchase the water when we ran out after a month. the unit did not provide any other purified water except what we purchased.
I am sorry you were dissatisfied with your stay and I find this very embarrassing but I must address your issues. I did find the need to explain that on the property description it does state specifically "This property does not have a lift. It is not recommended for elder or disabled guests." Furthermore the contract you agreed to and signed on the 4th clause stated "elderly people, the condo is not suitable for elderly people because we do not have elevators and we have lots of steps. It is the responsibility of the host regarding this matter."
Housekeeping, (Lupita) advised she received a tip of 300 pesos a week. She advised that she was not made aware of any dissatisfaction regarding housekeeping. Water in the amount of 20 liters is given as a courtesy and is free but any additional water was $2.00 per 20 liters and was in my opinion very reasonable considering the length of your stay.
I hope this clarifies any and all issues you had and I hope it encourages future travelers to perhaps read the description and contract more closely.
Nice property
The unit was clean and well stocked with supplies for cooking. Close walk to the quiet part of the beach. Beautiful ocean view from the balcony which we enjoyed our coffee from every morning. Short 10-15 minute walk into town along the road. Only negative is that it is quite a climb from the road to the unit as there is no elevator. Its at least 6 flights worth of climbing between stairs and ramps. I didn't mind the exercise, but others may if carrying small children, stroller, etc...The owners were very accommodating and responsive to all our requests.
