séjour très agréable dans une maison pleine de charme, calme assuré : c'était notre première exige
nous avons passé 2 semaines très reposantes (calme absolu ) dans un décor (maison et jardin ) bien agréable ;
Lovely home but wrong location
We had a great expression dealing with Jonathan during our booking with questions etc. However the one reason we booked this home was it was owned by English couple and had English TV. We arrived and after much messing about with the TV it was finally worked out that it was broken and when we messaged Jonathan he confirmed it wasn’t working and had broken when their last guests had been there. Not a great start as we had already spent a week in another gite which only had French TV therefore just wanted some home comforts for out last week in France. We took out dogs and as they are hunters we could not leave them alone to wander around the garden as it wasn’t fenced. The interior of the home was very quirky which was lovely but it wasn’t clean at all. Very dusty and a terrible smell of damp. I already had a cold so it just closed my chest up. The so called Japanese toilet didn’t work and all it did was make a noise every time you sat on it. The stairs leading to the first floor are a real hazard as they slope to one side and the top 3 steps are really vertical. I’ve had a knee replacement plus ankle surgery and found it really difficult so I used the door from the bedroom that leads outside to go downstairs. The bedrooms also all lead into each other so no privacy if you had friends staying with you. This home is probably only suited to a family who don’t mind passing through your bedroom to use the bathroom. Sorry this sounds so negative but it’s my honest opinion.
I am sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. Le Bournet is a 300 year old farmhouse; what you describe as the `quirkiness` of the property is exactly what most of our customers, many of whom come back to visit year after year, so enjoy. I apologise for the TV which we had tried to have fixed prior to your stay, and for which we provided a refund. In response to your other comments, the house was cleaned by ourselves very thoroughly prior to your arrival. Re your dogs, I clearly pointed out in our preliminary email correspondence that whilst the main roads were distant, the property was not fenced. The Japanese toilet was working perfectly prior to your stay. Sorry once again that it didn't work for you.
