Pretty good stay here. Pictures of the pasture/horse/creek are deceiving. Cleanliness could be better, the floor needed to be swept and mopped better. Good weekend stay overall.
great place just had a smoke odor but everything else perfect!!!!!
Nice secluded cabin definitely bring your own food not much to choose from around WiFi code didn’t work but other than that was very relaxing
SOOOOO Wanted to Give This Property a 5
In almost every way - this property and experience was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I and our lab needed a quick, mid-winter getaway and had been wanting to explore the awesome areas surrounding Bryson City. This was the perfect location because the cabin was secluded, but just minutes from the roads leading to basic necessities like grocery shopping and so many wonderful destinations. We were blessed with a wonderful elk-sighting near the Smoky Mountains National Park entrance, which more than made up for the fact the road through the Park was closed due to ice/snow. We took the fascinating "Road To Nowhere"; explored the village and surrounding areas around Cherokee; drove miles through the beautiful winding roads of the Nantahala Gorge with many ice-encrusted "pop-up roadside waterfalls" caused by the previous days of rain; and spent some time in beautiful Maggie Valley - including taking a peek at the Cataloochee Ski Area.
The cabin itself was very clean, which is always our greatest evaluation criteria. It is tiny, but was certainly adequate for the 3 of us and would be well able to handle a second couple or 1-2 children. The reasons we could not rate this cabin a 5... the website pictures are very outdated. The water wheel building that houses the hot tub, definitely needs some significant maintenance. The metal roof of the building has actually opened up and rain had poured into the building; the furniture inside the building looked very "tired", worn and dirty; and many of the cute Christmas lights on the walls were burned out. The other disappointment was the condition of the landscaping, grounds, etc. directly leading up to the cabin. We were "greeted" by filthy, well-worn and ripped indoor/outdoor carpet that lines the walkway from the parking area to the front cabin steps; pots filled with dead plants; and the cute wrought iron table on the front-door landing was covered with rust. We realize we visited in the "winter" - but most of these issues are not related to weather, but an absence of adequate upkeep. We realize that the property manager can only "do" what the owner funds.
And speaking of the property manager - we want to thank him for his timeliness in responding to the many questions we asked while considering the property; and for his flexibility and willingness to allow us to check-in a bit early on our arrival date.
If the outside maintenance is done, we would recommend this property without hesitation.
There were three of us adults. So, when we got there and realized the "loft" was nothing more than a small space over the kitchen, we began to wonder who was gonna share their bed. The loft was a deception. The water wheel was so neat. The hot tub was divine. The electric fireplaces (2) one in bedroom did not work. When plugged in a fuse blew and we lost the house heat for a couple of hours before we knew. It got down to 18°. The beds were both very comfortable, although again because of the size of the "loft" two of us had to share a bed. Gravel road up to location, not bad just be aware. Owner was present when we arrived. He was very pleasant as was his helper who were there cleaning up debris from tree falling. We were 30-45 minutes early for check in. They did a great job cleaning up and answering our questions. We also got to check in earlier than 4. Maid came at 10:30. My understanding was check out was 11. She was rude but no reflection on owner. Check out needs to be 12. Check in needs to be 3. Shouldn't take but a couple hours to clean the 636 sq ft. Overall, we'd stay again but check out has to be noon. Thanks so much
