Great house & view!
House was great and perfect for our family! It has everything you need so you can travel light. The view was spectacular.
Great place to just hang out.
Perfect location. Easy walk or drive to wonderful beach. Great paddling right from the house. What this house lacks is good water pressure so that you can take a decent shower or wash the dishes reliably. Also the grill needs substantial repairs or replacement to be used easily.
We really liked the vacation in this cabin, because it is very quiet, relaxing to hear the noise of the water, the birds etc. and have our neighbors space.
We recommend you only, if you could have another canoe in your cabin it would be very good for you because the cabin is rented for up to 8 people and one does not share the same with the family. Thank you
It was so much fun playing in the lake with my 9-month old grandchild. As a child, I played in the lake with my grandmother. The house and yard were beautiful, the water front was perfect. We cooked all our meals in the kitchen. Plenty of pots and pans and dishes and every kitchen appliance you need and then some.
The beds were comfy. It was a hot weekend so that created some problem for us, but the basement was cool and the master bedroom with the A/C was nice. There was a nice cool breeze off the lake in the evening. We loved lounging in the big, over stuffed couches. It was also great that there was a high chair and pack n play. We brought our own water in gallon containers, unaware of the water dispenser. I'm not sure if that's been added to the description. It would be more convenient to bring 5-gallon bottles to refill it.
I would love to return to the area to do some more exploring.
Lovely place to stay with everything you need to destress.
It's a roomy cabin with lots of sunlight and comfy furniture. It has a lovely sunroom with spectacular views of Lake Champlain. It also has a maincured front lawn with various shrubs surrounding the front entrance. We also had use of a brand new canoe to cruise the lake with.
The deck over looking the lake was spacious with ample outdoor furniture and grill. Our dog who accompanied us had so much fun and seemed to be quite comfortable in her surroundings. I have stayed in numerous Bed & Breakfast lodging as well as cabins and this by far with all it's rustic charms is a keeper for return visits. The only thing to remember is to have drinkable water. You have plenty of water for showers, laundry and dushwasher. Enjoyed the gas fireplace as well!
Gem of a Lake House
This house was by far the nicest house we have ever rented. All the pictures on the website are very accurate. The kitchen was so well supplied including cookbooks which I used to make Pancakes a few mornings. Beautiful Cuisinart pots and pans. I do wish there was one non-stick pan though. So many gadgets too. Was happy to find a crockpot and Forman Grill. We spent so much time using the Sunroom. It would be nice if the ceiling fan close to the table had the light attachment.
It would have been nice to figure out how to get the fireplace to work. There was limited instructions to turn a particular thermostat to 50 and that was it. Could not find any switch to turn it on. We mostly cooked in the kitchen. Did use the gas grill, but when the wind blew it would blow out the burners because they probably need to be changed, they looked either rusted or burned out. On a nice night, they worked great.
It was a surprise when we got there to learn that the water in the house is not suitable for drinking or cooking with. There was no mention of that on webite. We bought bottled water to use in the bathroom and 3 L containers which we emptied into the Larger blue bottles to go into the watercooler.
We only used the Master Bedroom and we found the bed to be very comfortable, but the pillows were very firm and uncomfortable. The masterbedroom has a beautiful sliding door leading to a small deck and the area leading to the lake. Since it faces East, we were up every morning with the sun, literaly. There are thin drapes that are not room darkening. I know vacation is not a time to sleep, but it would have been nice to sleep later than 7am. But I guess that is what afternoon naps were for.
The house was stocked with many towels and some small soaps and a small shampoo like you find in hotels. The television in the family room only had 4 network channels since there is no basic cable package, just a nice smart TV with Netflix. There was WiFi with good speed. I was happy I had brought my tablet and firestick to get live TV and we binge watched some TV programs,
All the switches in the house were nicely labeled. The sound system in the living room had a nice sound, but it seemed that only the radio worked. We tried to connect my tablet which has internet and satellite radio with the connected wire, but the selection on the stereo system would not work. There was an Ipod doc but for a late model ipod. We figured out how to use most things, but it would be nice to add a binder to the house with instruction manuals. We did find a small laminated booklet with some house tips and some instructions. We found that mixed in with brochures, it was not prominently placed. Housekeeping should make sure that is in the kitchen with all the other instruction pages from the rental company.
We did find that the house had some cobwebs in places that are probably not frequently dusted and there were some animal droppings in the corner of the entrance porch as well as paper wasp nests high up.
There is a rug which is being used as a stair runner leading up to the living room, the top of the rug is not flush to the rug it is protecting and it surely a trip hazard. Would recomend securing it at the top which was the place that would not stay flush and caught our toes a couple of times. Those things should be tended to regularly with housekeeping, but certainly did not detract from the beautiful house and the relaxing time we had.
We enjoyed swimming in Lake Champlain which was still very warm in September. Unfortunately the lake was low and there was alot of seaweed that we were swimming through all the time. Water shoes are a must, as the bottom is rocky like the path to the lake. Unfortunately our favorite beach (Alburgh Dunes State Park) was closed for construction.
We look forward to...
