Great place to stay and easy to find. Close to what we wanted to do - Paige Falls and Broadwater Falls in Compton, Glory Hole waterfall, Lost Valley, Twin Falls, and Hammerschmidt Falls. Ate lunch and dinner at Low Gap Café. Cabin was so nice ; nicest one in the area and a peaceful place to stay. Owners were nice and helpful. I would definitely stay there again if visiting that area and would recommend to my friends.
We loved everything about this cabin, and the owners. They are awesome. Fast to answer questions, and super friendly. The cabin itself was perfect. The smell of cedar when you walk in. Clean, and well laid out. The fireplace is great. The kitchen has everything you need. The beds are clean and comfortable. Bunk beds were perfect for the kids. We love coming to the Ponca area, and will be staying here again!!
Didn't actually get to stay due to COVID pandemic, but owner was gracious last minute cancellation.
We definitely plan to re-book as soon as life gets back to normal.
We had a fantastic time and what a wonderful place to self isolate! I couldn't have asked for a better location and accomodations!
Great out-of-the-way cabin near trails
My family had a wonderful time at the Papa Bear cabin. It's isolated, can see the night sky clearly, has an outside fire pit and seating area with grill, deck, balcony, inside fireplace (it got down to 34 when we were there!), and nicely stocked kitchen. The cabin was very nice and clean.
Things we did in the area (besides relax in/around the cabin): go to several hiking trails, see several waterfalls, drive around the area/mountains/forest, visit the local pottery maker, caverns, and try some of the local food!
The owner came by to make sure everything was ok and offered helpful ideas on what to do and in case it rained (which it did). Maggie came by every day to check on us... the burger she got one night may have helped. Sweetie pie...
Thank you for staying with us. Very happy that you enjoyed the cabin and the area. Of course Maggie greets everyone and usually ends up getting a treat with those big brown begging eyes! Please come back to see us!
