Our family holiday
Quirky, but homely old building. Suited our needs well. 6 Children (4- 13) were safe and had lots of space to explore. Loved the top floor lounge with roof terrace. Terrace was excellent space for our barbecue using the fire pit provided. Our only problem was at the steep entrance to the property where we stalled our cars several times.
Summer Bleak Adventure
A great quirky house that has been an excellent base for ours and two other young families. Proximity to Dartmoor was great. Walks between Haytor and Hound Tor fantastic. We took babies in carriers and 6 more children ranging up to 8, all able to complete the adventure after a good few hours hiking. Dartmeet and Fingle Bridge great for the children to play in the river. Dart Rock climbing centre was a big hit with the children on our wet day with staff friendly and encouraging without going H&S crazy as you often find in city climbing centres. The Granite Causeway was a fun ride, Okehampton to Lydford. Lydford gorge, very close to the house was a great afternoon walk (more challenging on the lower return loop, but worth the effort), with fantastic scenery all around. In the evenings a glass of wine round the fire pit (with children exhausted and asleep) was enjoyable. The three floors and bedrooms are quirky, but this makes life fun, the children calling the top floor lounge the ‘Gryffindor Common Room’ ...,? 6year olds? They loved it! Not really any major niggles, no stair gates, but Tracy the owner had confirmed this beforehand. You would probably need 4+ or like us if a big group, keep the youngest in sight. Table was easily big enough for the whole group (14), hand groves in the top which was a pain to clean out after dinner with little people. If you like adventure and quirkyness a great base for a family adventure on Dartmoor.

Beautiful house set in lovely grounds better than the description. The property was clean and well maintained. Tracey was very helpful and was on hand if we needed anything truly first class.
