Peaceful Adirondack Getaway
We had a fabulous time at Camp Critter. Doug was an awesome host. We arrived late, yet he was very accommodating and welcoming. The cabin was quintessentially Adirondack with all of the amenities. We enjoyed the canoe and simply unwinding by the lake. So peaceful stargazing at night listening to the lake sounds and night critters. Teenagers were finally off social media! No cell service or WiFi which was fabulous! We will remember our stay fondly and hope to return in the future. 🦉🦅✨
Thank you for taking the time to write such a positive review of your experiences at Camp Critters. I’m delighted that you appreciate the beautiful Adirondacks and the rustic comfort and privacy of our cabin and the surrounding woodlands and lake.
Hopefully, you’ll be able to return for more adventures in the Mountain View area in the near future.
The area is beautiful, as are the views from the lake. The cabin itself was very comfortable, though some of the dishes required a cleaning before using them. Doug and Bill were great and I appreciated all the clear communication.
One thing is that I wish we had been warned about the black fly season; I'm not sure we would have come when we did if we'd known about them. Definitely do your research if you're considering visiting the area from late May through early July.
I’m glad you enjoyed the cabin and the lake and mountain vistas. This is an unspoiled area of the Adirondack Park; with it’s rustic beauty and wildlife activity it is unparalleled.
Sorry to learn some dishes needed washing. Our expectation is that renters will leave the cabin in “renter ready” condition when they leave. Evidently the party that rented a few days before you arrived we’re not attentive to the cleanliness of the dishes.
The Adirondacks are a home to many forms of insect life and black flies are among the resident insects. The level and duration of their life span varies from year to year, but they are a part of the woodland experience in late Spring.
Lot of critters at critters
Everything you should need, just relax and listen
Thank you for your review of Camp Critters. Glad to learn you had good fishing, while at the lake.
Peace and Quiet
This was our second season at the cabin and certainly not our last. The foliage was just beginning to turn the beautiful colors of autumn. The geese were gathering in preparation for their long flight. Doug is a most gracious host. The cabin itself was immaculate with all the amenities one needs. Next year we hope to bring our grandchildren to share this special retreat.

Thank you for your kind comments about our cabin and your time at the lake. The cabin and surrounding woodlands do offer one a "peaceful, quiet retreat" and we're happy to learn that you're planning to share this setting with your grandchildren at a future date. Autumn in the Adirondacks is a special time. The beautiful foliage offers one spectacular vistas.
Peaceful family stay
The cabin was lovely and charming, and it’s amenities and surroundings provided a perfect mix of calm and adventure. The cabin and grounds were very well cared for, and host extremely kind and helpful. Our family of four (two adults, two toddlers) had an exceptional time and highly recommend this holiday home.
the Cabin was lovely. Very comfortable and well equipped. We came for water activities with our 2 golden retrievers but the water was low, causing a lot of algae, green foam and other yuck! Didn't even put my husband's kayak in the water. It wasn't until I got out in the middle of the lake further down that it became clearer. Still lots of lily pads and other growth. We let our dogs in once and then gave them a bath. If you're looking for clean water you will need to go to the lake connected to Mountain View or find another one. Great place if you are doing a lot of hiking and not there for the water, other than the view.
Thank you for your comments about our Adirondack cabin! We were happy to learn that you enjoyed your time in the mountains, but we are sorry that the water level of the lake was down during your stay.
When I meant with you upon your arrival at the cabin, I told you that the Mountain View Dam is leaking badly and that the dam issue, along with limited rainfall this summer, has had a negative effect on our lake's water level. This situation has been a disappointment for all of us living at the lake. On the bright side, a new dam is being built this Fall and it will be completed in the Spring of 2019, so we're all looking forward to the lake returning to it's normal level next summer.
