Beautiful scenic island with both wildlife and sealife. The villa was very clean and kitchen was well equipped. John was a pleasure to work with. He is responsive and personable. HIGHLY recommend both the villa and the island!!!!!

Just what we wanted!
After 36 years we finally returned to the area where we honeymooned. Our trip was long overdue. Our return was everything we had hoped for and more. The villa was perfect! It was well stocked, easy to access, and made our stay very comfortable. The owner was extremely gracious and helpful. We look forward to coming back very soon. Thank you John.

We just returned from a week at Seabrook Island today.The villa was nicely appointed .... great little extras...towels that were plush, soft high quality sheets, each chairs,beach towels, and the pantry supplies perfect!! The weather was great , warm and sunny but the LOVEBUG S were out of control to the point we couldn’t sit on the patio until after sunset. (Nature...no fault of the owner). Only issue was the MasterBath door kept sticking....my husband was trapped for about 5 minutes. So we never closed in all the way after that time. We did have an issue with the Amenity Card....couldn’t use it at the Pelican Nest.. not sure if we misunderstood or policies have changed we never had issues before. All in all PERFECT week at the beach.....

Cindy and Dan’s favorite beach getaway
This villa is our favorite location at pelican watch. Quiet and close to the beach. I love to fish, and I can wet a line In just a few steps. Cindy loves to watch the pelicans and dolphins, that frequent the channel. There are usually great sunsets to watch also.

Property owner cheated us
The home was clean except the shower curtain in the master bath had mildew at the bottom. It was well stocked and we liked the location. The owner was not easy to deal with after we had already paid in full. He put us in as visitors with security, so when I had a friend from the area coming to visit we could not admit her(we live in New England so were naturally wanting to see friends in SC).. We had to go through the owner and try to get her a pass to enter the island. He took considerable time and made it very uncomfortable and somewhat stressful during our vacation. The lock on the sliding glass door was old and rusted. He provided these “instructions” for how to open the lock because it did not operate as a simple functioning lock should. It did not open when the directions were followed, it simply would stick. I wish I had taken pictures of the rust in the lock mechanisms themselves as he tried to claim it was new.
I didn’t think anything of it when we arrived and the lock would occasionally stick, it was just an old lock on a rusted door. I wouldn’t complain to the owner or point out that this was something wrong with his property. He then tried to claim it wasn’t sticking before we came and that it was only a year old. Clearly not, from how rusted it was. He charged us $95 to replace the old rusted lock. Completely ridiculous. We most certainly could not have broken a lock simply by turning it and opening the door. John was looking for way to keep part of the deposit to make a repair on his property which was long overdue. We live quite far and he assumed he was not getting a repeat renter so he used the opportunity to benefit himself. We took very good care of the home, left everything in perfect order.
We enjoyed the trip to this beautiful island with our son. It was a lovely and peaceful place to visit as s family. But the property owner cheated us and I cannot give a good rating.
Catherine, I am stunned by your review. I’ve never received anything like it in three years of rentals. Your emails to me were all positive and your last one before you left thanked me and said you had a wonderful time.
I did everything I could to ensure your comfort. I worked with my housekeeper to clean and prepare the night before your arrival so I could offer you early check in at any time on your arrival date instead of a 4pm check in.
All passes issued for visitors on Seabrook Island of a few weeks or less are guest passes. Renters are long term stays of several months or more. When you told me your friends were coming and needed a pass I called the security gate with the information immediately and gave them their name, arrival and departure dates. That’s the procedure for any guest. And they were issued the pass and had access without delay or incident.
The sliding doors are older but the lock was indeed purchased and installed 10/22/18 for $94.65 from Swisco. The lock operated by depressing it first then turning a half turn. The information document sent to you a week in advance (and also in the binder at the villa) offered underlined directions for opening the lock. None of my guests have had an issue with it.
My housekeeper is extremely thorough and reports any issues to me immediately after cleaning post guest stays. The lock was operating normally when she cleaned the day before you arrived. When she reported it broken to me after you left, I contacted you and asked about the lock. You told me you couldn’t get the door open and asked your husband to help. You told me you didn’t want to bother me with a call and ask about it. I wish you had as I could have referred you to the directions and told you to push in first, then turn. As I told you, I’m sure breaking the lock was accidental but I still need to have it replaced due to you forcing it and breaking it.. I’m not charging you for installation, only for the lock itself.
In three years of renting to some 150 guests I have had one other damage claim from a guest’s deposit. They acknowledged they caused the damage and it was significant.
I have had many renters from the north east and many other states. I always hope guests return and many do. I’m sorry you’re unwilling to take any responsibility in this matter.
Perfect beach vacation spot!
The beach access was easy, the view was gorgeous, the amenities were great, and the deck being covered and having a fan made it useable at all hours even when it was hot. This is a clean well apointed property that has all you need for an excellent beach vacation. My wife, 3yr old son and I all had a blast and will definitely visit this property again.
