Hints and Tips Vence is one of the most beautifully situated towns along the south coast of France. It offers plenty of opportunities to experience nature, art and culture. You will also find skiing resorts, golf courses etc in the vicinity. Many artists have chosen to settle down in Vence and in the neighbouring town Saint Paul de Vence, among them Cézanne, Chagall og Matisse.
There is a wide range of art shops, potteries etc. Fondation Maegh, an art museum in Saint Paul de Vence ranking among the best in the world is certainly worth a visit. It comprises a sculpture park, exhibition galleries, art workshops and an art library. From Maison de l'Ara a path leads directly to Saint Paul de Vence. The Picasso Museum in Cap d'Antibes is also to be recommended.
If you are into shopping, Cannes and Monaco would be obvious places to go. Every friday there is a huge market in Ventimiglia (Italy), about 60 km from Maison de l'Ara.
The french center of perfume manufacturing is Grasse (25 km), where you can visit the factories and even get to create your own perfume under guidance from the manufacturers experts.
