Hints and Tips In Parghelia there is a very good ice-cream shop, the Mazzitelli bar where I suggest to try the granita, and at the Mille Voglie pastry-shop,the almond confectioneries.Good the Antonio's Pizza. On the beach the Lido del Nonno and Lido La Grazia offer bars, guarded beach and 2 good tipical and fish restaurants. In Zaccanopoli,a village at 4 km. from Parghelia, over the hills, there is Timpa 'A Porta a very good characteristic inn.
Who loves the arts and History, can visit the Archeological Museum of Vibo Valentia in the Norman-Swabian Castle:here, among many finds, there is a rare Orphic Gold Leaf.Valuable the ancient Built-up areas of Vibo V.,Tropea, Nicotera.Very characteristic that of Pizzo where is an Aragonese Castle:here Gioacchino Murat,Napoleone's brother-in-law,was shooted by Borboni(1815).Pizzo is also the country of the Tartufo and other italian soft ice-creams.
For who loves walking I suggest any excursions inward of the province, through the woods of Serra S: Bruno. In this town, rises the ancient Certosa that was founded by Brunone di Colonia on the land that Ruggiero il Normanno gived him in 1100 about.(Museum of the Certosa and St. Mary of the Wood Church). In Serra S. Bruno is very interesting the granite built-up areas and the church fronts in Calabrian Baroque style.Near Serra there is Soriano where you can visit the remains of Dominican Monastery and the Library(1500 ab.)In this zone I recommend the restaurant-pizzeria Le Coccinelle, in the Spadola village.
