Admiring the wall surrounding the castle and the church you can still recognize the remains of its past splendour. The house is an excellent example of the harmony between past and present: externally the property retains its original architectural features (solid walls, squared stones, arches and little windows) while the interior has been carefully restored combining a seductive atmosphere of warmth and comfort with a great sense of history. Guests can enjoy the breathtaking view over the valley from a well-tended garden where it is easy to find a secluded spot to read a book or drink a glass of fine wine.

Hints and Tips Montesanto is a tiny village belonging to the municipality of Sellano. Excluding its Italian and foreign summer visitors, Montesanto’s only inhabitants are three families.
Downhill, in Sellano, only 7 km away, you will find all sorts of facilities: supermarket, butcher, bar, public telephone, bank, bus stop, chemists, medical emergency service, post-office and petrol station.
The nearest restaurant is 10 km away, and, if you fancy a drink or a pizza, you can find a pub 9 km away alongside a nice little lake also equipped for fishing.
The town historical heritage – the Castle enclosure walls in particular – has been largely re-built after the 1997 earthquake.
We discourage families with children younger than three from choosing our “Residence Vallemela” for their stay, given its peculiar dislocation in the isolated village of Montesanto.
