The Company Toremar http://www.toremar.it/pages_it/index.asp has directed races Piombino - Rio Marina, in alternative Toremar and Moby have even very frequent races Piombino - Portoferraio (Rio Marina - Portoferraio are distant approximately 20 kilométres). Notice that in summer it is better to reserve the tickets if you have a car (as an example is possible to reserve through telephone call to Toremar call center in order to avoid long waitings. Moreover sometimes there are long tails to arrive at the port it is thus advisable to arrive with a certain advance compared to maintaining of departure (companies ask for at least 40 minutes).
Hints and Tips The position of the apartment is central and strategic: it is not necessary having a car because the ferry from Piombino stops 300 meters from the studio supermarket, market, restaurants, ice-cream shops bars and all the stores are nearby; many of the most beautiful beaches of the zone can be reached on foot or with the bus that connects Rio Marina to Cavo, Porto Azzurro e Portoferraio which stops 5 meters from the apartment. For who comes by car there is a large free parking less than 200 meters of the apartment. in the near port it is possible to rent boats to make a race to the beaches rejondables just by the sea, to make the turn of the island or to join the charming islands of Cerboli and Palmaiola. A Diving Center is near the apartment. Rio Marina is in the center of Island of Elba mining park, it is possible to find in the beaches and on the funds of the beautiful mineral parts and the visit of the iron mines in open sky is warmly advised. Monday morning there is a very convenient typical market.
