Means of access Leave St Jean-De-Cole in the Nontron direction and turn left at the junction as you leave the village and follow the sign for Villars. (D98).
The road twists and turns as you climb the hill but after about 3 km it levels out.
Look out for the signs for Le Puyfavard on the left. There are two roads to the hamlet but the second one by the bent tree is the better. We are then the second house on the right and have a red post office box on our wall and grey gates
Hints and Tips If you enjoy a more active break, this area offers opportunities for walking, cycling, canoeing and fishing. There are also freshwater lakes nearby for more adventurous swimming.
For walkers and cyclists, ‘La Voie Verte’ is a converted railway track which passes nearby and runs for 16km through unspoilt countryside. You can hire bikes and helmets from us.
Situated in the Perigord Vert region of the Dordogne, we are only a few kilometres from the edge of the Limousin National Park and are close to many tourist attractions.
Our local village, St-Jean-de-Côle, is listed as one of France’s prettiest villages.
Its medieval square has a chateau which provides the backdrop for two restaurants.
The historic town of Brantôme is within a twenty minute drive. With its Abbey, extensive waterways and restaurants it is a lovely place to spend a day.
If you enjoy visiting caves, the ‘Grotte de Villars’ is on our doorstep. Also locally there are chateaus at Puyguilhem and Bordeilles
Slightly further afield there is the beautiful city of Perigueux with its ancient streets and
Moorish-style Cathedral.
