Hints and Tips Casa do Calhau Grande - Sapateiro is located on the west side of the Island of Madeira, in the town of Calheta, in the village of “Arco da Calheta”. The name of the village was given to it because of the configuration of the surrounding mountains and its proximity relative to the village of Calheta. It is about 45 km from the airport (45 minutes) and 30 km from Funchal (30 minutes). It has a 180º view over the Atlantic and is excellently located, close to the sea (7 minutes from Calheta Beach) and mountains (15 minutes from Rabaçal), where you can easily explore the maritime coast, the levadas, the mountains and the "Laurissilva" forests, through scenic passages by car, de motorbike, bicycle or by foot.
